The great wegovy swap

Just after some thoughts. I’ve looked at some threads but still.

Ive lost five stone on mounjaro but only the 15mg worked for me and it’s been an incredibly slow progress. I haven’t been a fast responder at all. Weight loss injections have been the only thing that have ever worked for me, pcos etc etc.

Ive just taken my last injection on my first pen of wegovy. It hasn’t impacted food noise at all. I don’t feel anything like I did with mounjaro. I need to either reorder wegovy soon or make a choice.

has anyone found the switch worthwhile and I’m too soon into it to come to a proper conclusion?

I can’t afford the mounjaro increase but it feels like wasted money if wegovy doesn’t work either. I wondered about taking mounjaro every ten days and offsetting the increase that way.

what has everyone else done?

Oh really. I’m maintaining and swapped from M to W but they started me at the lowest. I’ve just increased to 1 mg and that feels a bit more of an impact. I do agree that M was a lot stronger but like you and many others I can no longer afford it. To turn this into a positive I found moujaro quite powerful and I really wasn’t eating enough which is not only not good for her but also not sustainable. I think W takes an edge off but also puts the ball more in your court to encourage better eating habits therefore hopefully maintenance easier. Not sure if that makes sense but to recap on m I could barely eat on w I can but I’m not going back to my old ways of binge eating.

Highest dose Wegovy has me maintaining the 4 stone loss I had on Mounjaro.

Haven't lost anything on it since I switched in September, but haven't gained either.

I also have PCOS.

I do acknowledge that may be of no help. I lost 10 stone and was lucky that the price hike happened towards the end of my journey. How much more have you got left to loose? If it’s at all possible to continue weight loss on m then swap over to w to maintain? Maybe do the math with a plan for being on m until you get to target weight rather than thinking you would have to be on m long term which is not affordable for a lot of us.

Re the PCOS I’m not as knowledgable as others on here regarding if M is available on the NHS. is it worth looking into ? It really is awful isn’t it. So many people who started the journey being able to afford it. Or just being able to afford it then it’s wiped away !!
