Is losing weight the same as shifting weight?

I used to think they were interchangeable and didn’t understand why people would use “shift” but since I’ve been on Mounjaro I feel like I’ve lost some and shifted some! Very strange indeed.

What do you understand by the term ‘shift’ in relation to weight?

I don’t understand it, that’s the reason for my question. I think it could be a reference to either (for me) what is disproportionate weight loss, for example I’ve lost half the volume in one breast but not the other. Or people who are working out and therefore maintaining a certain weight so not necessarily losing because they are gaining muscle m hence the term shift. A third option is that it could just be a cultural thing that I haven’t come across before until I moved to the U.K.

Are you thinking the word shift is used to mean to “move” weight? As in shift it abour? It is not , it is used to mean losing weight and is just a colloquial term.

They can be used interchangeably, but to me shifting is more intentional then losing.

Eg. If I got a job were I needed to walk more, I might lose weight

I might start going to the gym or dieting because I want to shift some weight
