Bad D & V - should I go down to 1.25mg or carry on with 2.5mg?

Been on MJ for on 2.5mg for 9 weeks now, have lost just over a stone and have had very minimal side effects - until Friday! I had bad diarrhoea in the morning, then same on Saturday morning and then the same on Sunday (yesterday) but this time also vomited.

Before this I was doing all the correct things, psyllium husk, lots of water, magnesium 3 in 1, etc etc and was fine. This came totally out of the blue. I didn’t even eat anything different!

I didn’t inject the usual 2.5mg yesterday as I normally would, to be honest I was too scared. I am thinking of microdosing 1.25mg tomorrow and see how that goes, maybe moving back to 2.5mg with my next jab. Has anyone been in this situation?

Sure its not a bug? So much sickness about at the moment

CleanShirt · 15/12/2025 12:11

I had a stomach bug when I was on 3.75. Ended up having to fast for 48 hours to get rid of it. Get it out of your system before you jab again.

Sounds like a bug

VioletandMauve · 15/12/2025 12:33

I can’t be sure it’s not a bug, but no-one I know has had one and usually when I have had a bug before someone I know had has it too, or it’s been from food. But yes, it could be a bug. I may not jab 1.25 tomorrow and just go back to jabbing 2.5 on Sunday, will give myself a good chance to sort my insides out!

I would definitely wait a day or two until the D&V has stopped before injecting again, whether that's 1.25 or 2.5mg. You could try the 1.25 for a week as you suggest and if you're ok then step back up to the 2.5mg.

The only time I had diarrhoea was when I ate a very fatty meal after eating plainly for weeks. I regretted it half way through. After 9 weeks you should be used to the medication so personally I would take it as usual, as others have said you probably have a bug which has nothing to do with MJ.

VioletandMauve · 15/12/2025 13:17

@SilenceInside yes I think I will do that, I’ll see how I feel tomorrow

@ThirdStorm I think you’re probably right in that it was a bug.

I think I got scared while I was going through it, and thought to myself I’ve done this to myself!! Of course now I am feeling better it’s (maybe) worth it! 🤗

I think when your taking MJ you are on high alert for any side effect. I know in the early months I overthought everything, worried there was a problem. I'm coming up to 2 years on MJ in April and I feel great. This will be the first year in 20 years that I won't be starting a diet in the new year!

Definitely true I’m always on the alert! Congrats on the weight loss and not having to think of a diet in the NY!
