How many different providers have you used?

Question for those who’ve been on WLIs for a while - how many providers have you used?

Also I’m wondering if there’s likely to be Black Friday sales, is it a daft idea to stock up?

@RoundandSad I mentioned Lotus on our other thread, I was recommended them and got £40 off. I just checked my emails, I placed order at 940am on 26th, approved at 951 and I received it on the 27th. You also get points for everything you spend and can use against the next pen.

I definitely wouldn't recommend MedExpress for speed, they do offer discounts. They offered me 15% as I didnt reorder straight away. They also are apparently not great under BMI of 24 whereas Lotus have a maintenance programme.

I know my friend has ordered from Asda and Bolt and not had any issues.

@monjmaintainer @gimmemounjaro
could you please let me know which suppliers were happy with you having a long break before restarting? Could you start at your usual dose or did you have to go back to 2.5mg?

BoxingHares22 · 30/11/2025 08:28

I have decided to start on MJ but am worried this is not a good time with Xmas coming up. I also have a house full for two weeks. Anyone else start at this time last year? What would you recommend?
Also which provider is cheapest/best at the moment? I really need a hand hold over this!

Swift and Pharmulous both allow you to restart after a break of up to a year. Minimum BMI for Pharmulous is 21 and I think Swift is the same or similar. You have to be a patient of theirs, and the year (for Swift anyway) starts from their last prescription, so doesn’t count anything you get from elsewhere after that. I am in the year off ordering at the mo and haven’t asked about what dose you restart on, I assume 2.5mg if you haven’t taken it for several months. I wouldn’t want to restart any higher tbh.

I’ve not done the restart yet, I just did an second order with Swift, explained this was to be my final pen before trying stopping and confirmed with them in writing that I will be allowed an order gap of 12 months from this order with them and able to restart as long as bmi above 21. I expect that to be 2.5mg. My intention is to make that order no matter what before the 12month point to reset the clock and ensure my ability to access MJ again should I need to in future years. I actually have a bit more left from pens ordered during pendemic so won’t be stopping quite as soon but I do intend to see if I can maintain without it when they are finished.

My hope is that when we get into the 2030s there will be a lot more options, but for now I’m just making sure to work within the limitations of the current system to maintain access until that day comes.

Look at the discount list on monj.co.uk and sort by 2.5mg. All suppliers on there are guaranteed to be legal registered UK pharmacies however their customer service is variable - trust pilot is worth a check.

Whilst people always say just start right now I know I would have been nervous doing it right before Christmas just in case it made me sick. I didn’t have any serious side effects but did have low level nausea, heartburn and constipation in the early weeks (none of that for months now). Now that I am on it I will not be stopping for Christmas as i enjoy being able to have sensible amounts of the things i like. But you might want to get a pen ordered now and stashed in the fridge to start when your guests leave?(with house guests there are lots of great tips to hide it on other threads if you don’t want to share with all!) I imagine there could be a rush on January orders and delays as MJ is so much more mainstream than a year ago. Why not make a real effort to enjoy this Christmas without overindulging, eat the lovely meals mindful of portion size and have the odd mince pie but avoid the huge boxes of chocs/cheese boards/crisp etc and get yourself in the right frame of mind to start soon?

best of luck 🙂

Ha that’s a good idea to order it now so I’m ready to go. I thought they had to be kept in the fridge though? Please point me in the direction of the hiding threads! I’ve wondered what to do if visiting friends etc.

it needs to stay between 2-8C until you’ve taken first dose then can be kept anywhere under 30C for up to 30 days (so can take all doses using it as directed).

so if you get it slightly early needs to be in fridge. Best suggestion I’ve used is remove the pen from box, wrap in tinfoil and wedge it into a box from tomato puree. Can also get insulin cases on Amazon that look like spec cases and have freezer packs, but you would have to remember to keep changing them as last about 8 hours.

gimmemounjaro · 30/11/2025 10:29

I have a little mini fridge to keep mine in, it’s in my study where nobody else goes 🤓

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 01/12/2025 12:49

@TheWeekOnTheDalymountSeat thanks for posting about Bolt. I took advantage of their BF deal as well £179 versus Medexpress offered £229 plus postage so a bit cheaper than your me price but still a bit £55 saving!

What a good idea!

BoxingHares22 · 01/12/2025 16:31

To be honest I think I might just order it now as I feel really crap on HB medication. It’s making me feel awful. I do want to lose this weight and being realistic, I am never going to do it now calorie counting.

BoxingHares22 · 01/12/2025 16:33

What is the difference between the discount and the retail price for MJ?

TheChosenTwo · 01/12/2025 16:34

I’ve stuck with one provider throughout the past 14 months, not inclined to chop and change, just felt like more unnecessary admin.

You usually only get the discount price for your first order, it's a new customer discount. After that, for your second and subsequent orders with the same pharmacy you will usually pay the retail price, or get a much smaller discount.

BoxingHares22 · 01/12/2025 16:44

I’ve just applied to Bolt and been turned down despite them accepting me a few weeks ago and the. I cancelled!! Infuriating

Ok thank you for explaining

SilenceInside · 01/12/2025 16:51

@BoxingHares22 did the online consultation form say that you were ineligible, or was it after being reviewed? Did they say why they turned you down?

No they didn’t, just that they couldn’t supply it. So odd. I’ve just applied to another provider and been accepted. Please give me the final push to checkout. I’m scared.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 01/12/2025 17:00

Go for it @BoxingHares22 I know it’s scary but once you’ve done the 1st jab you will wonder why it was such a big deal.

SilenceInside · 01/12/2025 17:02

That is odd. Well, it’s their loss. No need to be scared, ordering doesn’t mean you have to take the medication. Taking the medication isn’t anything to be scared of. If you get side effects you don’t like, you just don’t do another injection. Very unlikely though, most people find it fine, or have very mild side effects.

gimmemounjaro · 01/12/2025 17:10

@BoxingHares22 Go on - take this chance to transform your life and health 💪

BoxingHares22 · 01/12/2025 17:16

Should I wait till after Xmas though?

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 01/12/2025 17:21

If you are at 2.5 mg most people have few to no side effects, and the levels in your body drop quickly so even if you did experience some side effects, within a week your levels will drop and things will improve.

buying a pen doesn’t mean you have to use it, and each jab does not commit you to anymore, or you can decide to take a gap over Christmas by not jabbing after 21st until the end of Christmas/New year, then starting again.

SilenceInside · 01/12/2025 17:24

If it was me, I would start now. But I had over 10st to lose when I started so didn’t want to waste any time. Delaying for a month wouldn’t have been what I would have wanted to do, in my circumstances.
