Just that..I’ve a few Xmas drinks coming up & am not a huge drinker but do like a few when I go out.. I’ve been on mj for 2 weeks.. will I feel sick if I have my usual 3-4 drinks? Interested to hear others experiences.

I find that I can't drink much- it makes me feel really uncomfortable and queasy. Would suggest you take it slowly and maybe only have one or two.

BeWellJ · 26/11/2025 16:11

FWIW I've found it quite helpful to think that maybe the reaction on MJ is what my body actually feels about alcohol (leaving aside the dopamine hit).

Pieceofpurplesky · 26/11/2025 16:13

I am OK towards the end of the week (I inject on a Sunday), but can't drink much. If I drink on a Monday (not that I often do!) it makes me feel awful. On a Saturday I can enjoy a couple of glasses of wine.

RussianDoll76 · 26/11/2025 16:14

I find that I can drink a fair bit without any bad side effects but I don’t really have the urge to. Only thing is I do get a bad headache the following day and I never used to. I would suggest try it at home first and see what happens .

BeAmberZebra · 26/11/2025 16:17

Probably not. I’m on 12.5 and can have a few drinks but I drink lager so I get full quickly and that stops me having too much. One of the benefits. Everyone is different though but I know a few people on mounjara who have a few regularly

Dartmoorcheffy · 26/11/2025 16:19

Dp hasn't had any problems. He drinks gin with sugar free squash. Hes still lost over 3st since July.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/11/2025 17:28

As with everything Mounjaro, it will vary by person, you could try a couple of drinks (pub not house measures) at home before the events to see how you get on.

Periperi2025 · 26/11/2025 17:31

I find like with food, i will just 'know' when enoughs enough and stop with ease. I can manage a couple of large glasses of wine across the evening. You just might not feel like 3 or 4 drinks, but be totally okay with this anyway. Enjoy.

WildLeader · 26/11/2025 17:32

There’s no knowing how you will feel, some can’t touch a drop, some can drink normally. Just take it steady to begin with

SexyFrenchDepression · 26/11/2025 17:40

I was quite nervous about it, I had a mini bottle of cava on the train to a day out yesterday morning 🙈 I know it was only one but I'd only had a clear protein drink beforehand and felt totally fine, I usually get a headache from any wine/bubbly. I have a bottomless brunch Friday so will have to see how it goes, I dont really want to waste the calories as much as anything.

IsItSnowing · 26/11/2025 18:21

I find I don't fancy a drink much on mj. But I've had a couple of glasses of wine on occasion and been fine.

Wickedlittledancer · 26/11/2025 21:23

I’m not bothered to be honest, so no longer drink at home, where I used to drink about two bottles a week on average, weekend sort of thing or a couple of glasses after a hard day.

i can drink when I go out, and happy to have a few, even up to a bottle of wine for example over the course of a long evening, but I also know when to stop and when I’ve had enough.

I don’t get hangovers like I used to though. Used to be even one glass of wine disrupted my sleep, I’m in my fifties, now I can drink a whole bottle, I sleep soundly and I’ve no hangover. It is very odd.

i think it is two things, I think i am fully hydrated, and the reduction in alcohol over the last 18 months on the drug has repaired my liver fully, as the drug is now being looked at as it does help the liver.

i read an article that it has an anti ageing effect, not on your skin, but on your cells, your organs, as it removes inflammation, which allows cells to regenerate.

whatever it is, I can if I chose drink like I did in my twenties and be fine. Simply the drug makes me say that’s enough.

youre very early on your journey, so I think the likely hood is if you don’t have enough food in your tummy and aren’t fully hydrated yes you could be unwell. I’d recommend you make sure you eat fully and drink water as you go.

maz99 · 26/11/2025 23:54

I've drunk a few times so far (currently in 13th week) - the first time in my 3rd week I had 3 doube G7Ts and I was fine. But it's different for everyone

mondaytosunday · 27/11/2025 00:04

I’m not on Mounjaro but I have a friend who is and very much likes her wine. She hasn’t cut back at all and no ill effects.

tobee · 27/11/2025 00:14

If people are going alcohol free what are they drinking? I've only drunk water, tea and coffee since starting 3 weeks ago.

I fancy trying some fruity alcohol free cocktails. I know people can find fizzy drinks dodgy too.

I'm going out for family drinks in a bar before Christmas and would normally have an alcoholic a
cocktail or 2. I'm not telling anyone I'm on MJ atm except my Dh and 2 dc. I'd probably admit if asked though.

MisseyLurker · 27/11/2025 13:46

I barely drink, I don’t fancy it. I’ve gone from someone who drank daily and whilst my aim was to drink less this year, I hadn’t expected my drinking to basically become nonexistent.

It’s great from a health point of view but I really struggle to even finish a pint these days. Long gone are the days of me being able to sink a Guinness in 30 seconds. The Christmas nights out are going to be, well annoying.
