Mounjaro still not working?

I did 4 weeks on 2.5mg with no real effect on feeling full or reducing food thoughts.
Five days ago I took my first 5mg dose. I’ve noticed I feel a bit fuller after eating less than usual, but the feeling doesn’t last and I’m hungry again quite quickly.

I’m starting to feel like I’m wasting my money. Is this normal at 5mg? Im starting to wonder if i should continue

It’s not until you take the second dose of a new dossage that you get the full effects. Finish the pen and see how it’s going in a couple of weeks to see if you want to keep going.

Mine didn’t have any effect until I got up to maximum strength. Even then it’s been a very slow process.

Different foods work differently with the drug. I could eat fruit all day without feeling full, but some protein or a little bit of full fat yogurt makes me feel very full. Have you tried experimenting with different foods?

Also you really do need to drink a lot.

Some people will need the higher doses to get the full effect, even up to the top 15mg dose. The amount of medication in your system will keep building each week, as not all of it is out of your system by the next injection. If you are starting to get the effects on your first 5mg dose, then it's likely that will build with each subsequent 5mg injection, so you may soon find it's doing more for you. You still have another 4 dose levels to work through before you could definitively say it wasn't going to work for you.

Thanks all, I will give it more time! Everyone I know who's on it has had effects from 2.5mg so I feel confused as to why it isn't working for me!

It didn't work for me and I was prediabetic. Could you be prediabetic/insulin resistant?
I had to go upto 10mg to resolve my blood sugar symptoms and then down to bmi 25 to drop from 15mg to 7.5mg due to not needing the really high insulin anymore and all doses suddenly being too strong for me.
5mg only lasted 5 weeks and 7.5mg-12.5mg only lasted 7 weeks each. I was ravenous when they wore off and satiety wore off as well as suppression.

Mine didn’t really effect till 10

have you weighed and measured self ?

morningtrain · 24/11/2025 20:44

I’m about to start - is it the more you have to lose the higher the dose you need or vice versa?

No, I was 13 stones when I started but insulin resistance/prediabetes/pcos means naturally lower insulin levels so may need a higher dose.

Mounjaro doesn’t work for everyone. Are you on individual care of a doctor? It’s still early days yet, but Sometimes there are underlying medical reasons why it may not work. Or genetics. Or whatever. Hope it kicks in for you - I can’t take it as I have Type 1 diabetes.

SilenceInside · 24/11/2025 22:14

@morningtrain no, the dose for Mounjaro is not weight dependent. Everyone starts on the lowest dose and then moves up if they need to. I was 22st when I started and 2.5mg hit me like a ton of bricks from the first day I injected. It’s just down to how each individual responds to it.
