Tips on getting rid of Sulphur Burps!

notanothernamechange24 · 20/11/2025 13:16

On mounjaro 12.25mg and have been taking it since Jan. Last 24hrs have been horrible. Sulphur Burps and abdominal pain. Worse after I had eaten (chicken) and overnight it was terrible until I ended up being sick at 4am. Better after that.
Not eaten anything since nor am I remotely hungry.

Any recommendations for ways to help them settle down? I have had them before but never like this.

Peppermint tea, peppermint capsules. Pepto bismol apparently works well although I have not used it myself.

notanothernamechange24 · 21/11/2025 14:04

Thanks! I have ordered some and in the meantime am eating mints. Mints and ginger biscuits seem the only thing I can tolerate just now!

I could have written this - I started a thread today (vomiting after injecting)
I started in January and have been on 12.5 since August but yesterday had those awful burps and was sick all night. Weird not getting it before.
Are you newly up to 12.5 mg or been on it a while?

SussexLass87 · 21/11/2025 17:32

Love heart sweets! Saw it recommended on Instagram and they're like magic.

notanothernamechange24 · 21/11/2025 17:48

@Elboobive been on 12.5 since august too. This is my second week on this pen. First week symptoms were noticeable but not terrible. This week has been much worse.
Didnt eat anything significant yesterday and today has been the same. Ginger biscuits and tic-tacs! No appetite at all so on the positive side I should loose this week.

Any chance the cold snap has resulted in you drinking less?
I've been on MJ a year & had sulphur burps for one (horrible) day - it was the only day I didn't start with 2 pints of water.

JinglingtoChristmas · 21/11/2025 18:10

Drink warm water, rennies and eat less on day 2 and 3.

Possibly but I don’t remember drinking less. I’m pretty good at drinking 2-3 litres a day. I will definitely make sure I’m drinking enough though. I’ve drunk a few dyoralite drinks the last couple of days to make sure I’m hydrated.
Im wondering if it was triggered by eating too much protein. I had chicken and veg for dinner and no carbs so maybe that triggered it? Not going to eat much today and see how I feel tomorrow

Poor you, they’re fucking disgusting. Pepto bismol was the only thing that took the edge off for me. Hope it passes quickly.

TheChosenTwo · 22/11/2025 19:35

I’ve only had them twice in 13 months, the first time was literally 2 small burps one night about 3 months in and the second time was about a month ago, I had been a bit constipated and was very burpy that evening, woke in the middle of the night and basically became very un-constipated very quickly!
and no more sulphur burps for me since then touch wood.
i eat quite low carb generally on MJ, as non UPF as possible and as much protein and veg as I can get in.

I've noticed two triggers for sulphur burps - too much chicken or too many nuts.

notanothernamechange24 · 22/11/2025 20:46

Still going if I try and eat anything. Have only had ginger biscuits now since Thursday morning. Don’t dare try anything else yet as even eating those sets it off again. Not hungry at all. Hoping it will pass soon.

Interesting that it was chicken that set yours off too. I eat chicken regularly so it will be a bummer if I can’t eat it on MJ. Though the way I have felt this week I’m not sure it’s realistic to take it again.

I was so rough with burps and diarrhoea that I came off for a month then restarted.

Elboob · 23/11/2025 20:30

@notanothernamechange24 I hope you start feeling better soon.
Im going to up my water as i think this has dropped off in the cooler weather like someone suggested.

🤞I have managed to eat half a meal today which is more than I’ve had since Wednesday night! So far so good. I’ve been hungry today for the first time in days so hoping the worst is behind me now. I injected on Tuesday afternoon so it will be loosing its intensity now. Not sure what to do going forwards. Reluctant to take full dose again next week so thinking I might do half doses for the next couple of weeks and see how I go. Don’t want to stop as I still have lots to loose and it’s definitely helping.

I’ve been on mj for almost six months and for the first time yesterday I started burping rotten eggs. 36 hours later and it has been continuous, about every 3 minutes. This is really disgusting!
I’ll try and isolate the cause. I recently went up a dose, it might be that. But it has to stop!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 26/11/2025 07:11

I've had these periodically. I eat upf and have had them when there hasn't been a trigger food.

The worst was a week or so after going up to 10 and it happened for 3-4 days after every jab. After about 4 weeks of this I started reducing the dose back down and stopped at 8 and the burps went.

So although it's something I'm prone to it i needed to reduce my dose when I got them regularly.

Pepto bismol works for me - but you can't take more than a few days at a time (was finw to do this when it was odd days when I went up a dose but not when it became regular.)

Good luck. They are foul for those around you too it's not like a random fart!

notanothernamechange24 · 27/11/2025 11:21

After several days of being ok, they are back again! 😞 haven’t taken and more MJ so don’t understand why!

Elboob · 27/11/2025 23:53

@notanothernamechange24 yuck!
Ive had them this week too. I dropped my dose down from 12.5 to 10 and have felt okay.
