Hi. Am looking into starting weight loss injections and starting on wegovy. If you've been on wegovy from the start and lost some weight. What would you do if you were starting again from scratch as a newbie?
Thanks

I have been on Wegovy now for 6 months and lost about 14kg. I took the starting dose for two months and then have been on .5mg for the rest of the time. I am only just about to go up to 1mg.

There is nothing that I would do differently. Wegovy is a much slower drug than Mounjaro and do not compare yourself to anyone else and their weight loss. I have used the time to overhaul my eating habits and to try to eat better, more protein and more fresh foods. I have not wanted to drink alcohol at all. Keep your fluid levels up and make sure that you don’t get constipated, eat fibre rich foods.

My only regret is that the weight loss drugs were not available years ago. Good luck with your weight loss journey and expect it to be a life style change and not a quick fix.

Thank you. I think slow is potentially better in the long term as like you say build up lots of lifestyle choices. Did you go with a supplier that offers a coaching service / support package?

Hi @donli82 I've just bought my first wegovy pen and am starting on Thursday - was literally going to start a similar post then saw yours so hijacking I’m afraid!
@Perfectlyplump really great to hear your experience, I think slow would be better as well so am pleased you said that. Do you have any advice about what time of day to inject? Does it make a difference to side effects?

donli82 · 05/11/2025 17:43

Oooo perfect @JinglingGin I can't wait to follow along. Good luck.

donli82 · 11/11/2025 09:36

Ooo congrats @Yellowcakestandon the weight loss so far and sorry your feeling unwell tho. Which provider did you go with?

How are you getting on @JinglingGin

I had Wegovy from MedExpress

JinglingGin · 13/11/2025 19:59

Brill thanks @donli82. Not weighed yet but am sure I’ll have lost weight. Very mild side effects - bit of a headache on day one and a bit of indigestion. Bizzarely I’ve been hungrier than before but on reflecting I realised that’s because I haven’t snacked at all and have had small meals so I’m hungry for my next meal which is how it should be really! The die down of food noise is amazing - I’ve walked past so many biscuits and choccies this week :)

JinglingGin · 13/11/2025 20:00

I’m using med express too…

I’ve been on mounjaro for nearly a year (at the end of this month) just hit the 5st mark. My journey is slower than a lot but like everyone says it’s best to be slow. Gives you time to change your eating habits, learn a new way with food etc instead of losing a huge amount of weight In a short period and not really learning anything.

I feel amazing and wish I did it sooner. I started at 16st 7 and now 11st 7. It’s honestly the best thing I ever did. I’m trying to loose another stone and then will swap with wegovy to maintain weight. Good luck, drink lots of water, eat fibre (I need to do this more, I’m constipated atm) and I hope you enjoy your journey.

JinglingGin · 14/11/2025 09:25

I just weighed on day 7 - 8lb down which is insane! Am assuming a lot is water weight … am actually hoping it slows down as that is too fast…. @donli82 have you bitten the bullet and bought some? Also something I hadn’t factored in is that I’ve definitely spent less money this week on snacks/ flat whites etc so the £100 a month has been offset a bit it think….

donli82 · 14/11/2025 09:30

Morning. Omg well done😘. That's so encouraging. Ice not gone for it yet, still juggling the financial costs. I should just do it tho

Also - I have no idea whether this is related or why it would happen but my garmin smart watch this week is telling me that I’m way less stressed than I usually am. I haven’t noticed feeling less stressed but I did read an article that said wegovy has been linked with a reduction in inflammation and I wonder if that is what my watch is picking up on. 🤔

Such a shame that the nhs criteria are so tight as I can really see how this drug would ‘improve the nations health’ I’m not sure how long I can justify the cost for but will reassess each month if it’s worth the money for me. So far so good! I’m really hoping that I’ll keep getting benefits at the lower doses as that keeps the costs down.

I've lost 3 stone on Wegovy. It's been like witchcraft for me. Effortless. As PPs have said, how I wish this had been invented 30 years ago. The food noise has gone.

Yellowcakestand · 17/11/2025 22:58

Another 2lb off for me this week.
That's 8lb in 2 weeks. And I had 2x meals out on the weekend and drinks for my birthday!
Upping the exercise this week. - keep reminding myself to drink more water

Hi there, I have just ordered my first wegovy pen after weeks of researching & lurking on these boards for insights. I’ve found this thread to be so helpful & reassuring. It’s scary going into the unknown! I really don’t want to feel sick - any tips to help on that front?

I’ve had a bit of nausea - usually only for 24 hours after the shot and nothing too bad - way less than morning sickness more just like ‘ate something greasy and feel a bit queasy’. peppermint tea and distraction have worked quite well. Good luck :)

donli82 · 23/11/2025 08:17

I'm still lurking. Going to order with shemed tho because of their current deal. So pleased to hear everyone is doing well

Another 1lb down this week.
9lb in 3 weeks x

JinglingGin · 26/11/2025 17:37

@donli82 thats exciting - let us know how you get on…. I’ve done 3 jabs now and weight loss has defo slowed but still losing - 4.5kg in total which is fab and it hasn’t felt too effortful. I’ve been tracking calories to keep an eye on things and I have had one day where I’ve not been in deficit which in almost a month is quite an achievement for me!
I Have just ordered my second month - stuck at .25 given that I’m still losing: figured no point increasing the dose unless I plateau.
