Soomanyquestions · 04/11/2025 18:05

I’ve been on mounjaro since early 2024, lost 7.5 stone. Currently sitting at 12 stone - I’ve been loosing and gaining the same 4 pound for a few months.

has anyone any tips? Would it be beneficial to come off it and start again to kick start weight loss?

I currently do 2 exercise classes a week and hit my 10k steps daily.

What is your current height, weight, bmi, and total daily calories? This will help us to advise you.

PurpleCoo · 04/11/2025 18:14

In addition to the questions posed by @HansHolbein what exercise are you doing?

It's good to get a mix of cardio and strength/resistance/weights.

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/11/2025 18:51

Have you been recalculating your TDEE as you lose weight and adjusting your calorie allowance?

Are your measurements changing even if your weight isn’t?

Are you getting enough water and sleep?

Are you getting enough protein, fibre and fat?

Mysticmaiden · 04/11/2025 19:51

I've just heard from a friend who went from 15mg wegovy with very little suppression and maintained for months, to wegovy and she said she can't finish her meals on 2.4mg because its so strong. 1.7mg was ok, she started on that first but it wore off towards the end. She's saving a fortune now and also has more energy than on M.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 04/11/2025 21:24

It’s not the medication that makes you lose weight, but your consumption, if you’re nor losing then you’re eating to maintenance,

ChocolateBoxCottage · 04/11/2025 23:11

I'm toying with a mini break to see how feel with a week off and counting every calorie. It's day 1 and I'm feeling hungry so it looks like it was still working after all. See if I can loose this dreeded 3lbs the old fashioned way with some pain and will power and doing my jab late. I have skipped weeks before when been abroad.

I don't think this is advised though so don't listen to me. I want to see how I feel without the jabs confusing things. Like pp says the jabs don't make you loose weight in themselves. It's energy in v enery out. The jabs make it easier to stick to a deficit. My thinking is I'm not going to be on this for life ( I hope ) so got to face hunger and cravings one day.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply!

@HansHolbein 163cm and weight is 12 stone 0lbs, BMI 28.6, my total daily calories are between 1300-1500 I track most days.

@PurpleCoo pilates both Matt and reformer I feel like it’s a good enough all rounded exercise class? I definitely feel like I’ve gotten stronger

@InfoSecInTheCity water definitely - it’s the only drink I have. Sleep would be pretty consistent on 7-8 hrs. I haven’t been tracking protein/fibre/fat - today on my fitness pal my protein intake is 56g which probably isn’t the best.

@Mysticmaiden this is exactly why I’m asking, I have 2 doses left and I really don’t want to pay the £300+ for no effect. The tiredness kills me on 15mg for about 2 days after taking it, I can also eat fine on the lower doses I nearly had aversions to take always/sweets/chocolate which made it so much easier to loose weight.

@Rumpledandcrumpled I’ve done chat gpt for this and it suggested 1200-1400 a day for 1-2 lbs loss a week I’m sitting on mainly 1300-1500 a day.

@ChocolateBoxCottage this is how I feel I need to know how to do it by myself. I also don’t want to pay the £300+ for another one, I’ve 2 doses left I was hoping to get as close to target as possible. It feels like such a waste of money paying for it but staying the same weight🥲

From your own numbers it sounds like you’re eating too many calories to los weight.

PurpleCoo · 05/11/2025 05:35

@Soomanyquestions Both mat and reformer pilates are great things to have in your exercise routine for strength building, but I wouldn't count it as cardio (and I do the tough/athletic class, rather than the slower gentler classes that focus on posture and spinal articulation). Nor do I think those classes are all rounders.

Are you a member of a gym with lots of classes to choose from? If you prefer classes, perhaps try something more active like spin or HIIT.

As a contrast, I do the same classes as you, plus two body pumps classes (with instructors who focus on slower movements with progressive loads, rather than the really quick movements/light weights some instructors do). I also swim for 2 hours a week. I walk more too. Are your 10k steps over the course of the day, or are you going for a brisk walk and getting your heart rate up? I walk the dog for at least 90 minutes a day, and walk really fast, so it's like another workout. I average 15-20k steps a day, and easily get up to 30k on days off if I go for a hike, or I'm traveling so exploring all day

I'm not saying you need to have the same exercise routine, just giving an example of what I do, or what a moderately active person might do

Rumpledandcrumpled · 05/11/2025 05:42

I think you’re miscounting your calories , be it through food or drink, at some point over the week, as you are eating to maintence. So on average are consuming a lot more than you think.

Mysticmaiden · 05/11/2025 09:38

Use tdeecalculator.net to work out your deficit. My maintenance is 1530 so 1030 to lose 1lb a week and I lost 5lbs last month on 8.5mg at bmi 22.9 and I've been all the way upto 15mg and back down. When I hit bmi 25 the doses were suddenly too strong for me.
Focus on higher protein, low carbs It's not just calories but also macros because when we eat carbs our body uses that up before going onto fat burning, the less carbs, the earlier into fat burning we start and the more fat we use up as energy.

jaelato1 · 05/11/2025 15:43

What dose worked best for you before moving 15mg? i'll default to that dose if I were in your position to re kick start, if all these suggestion fails.

whensmynexthol1day · 05/11/2025 17:44

I don’t think you can eat that many calories for your height. I’m 160cm and pre mounjaro could only eat 1000 to lose weight. On mounjaro weirdly I can do a little more - 1200 ish but no way could I eat 1500

Start monitoring what you eat. Stick to a moderate deficit eg 500-600 calories. Eat a lot of protein and mountains of veg for each meal.

I’m guessing you are eating too much. Either increase activity or reduce calories or both.
