Bad batch or unlucky side effects 6month in?

I’ve been on MJ 7.5 since summer without issue but the past three weeks a couple of days after injection I’ve had quite debilitating sickness and diarrhoea. I don’t understand why now? I’ve been on mj since April and on 7.5 since July so why would my body start with side effects how?

could it be a bad batch? I’m close to giving up if it’s going to be like this every week. I’m three stone down and have still got two stone to go but I can’t live like this.

Aside from immodium
and anti sickness meds (neither working) has anyone got any advice?

I got sickness on 10mg after 3 months of being fine at that strength, my theory was it was just too strong for me once I had lost 3.5 stone, the reason I came to this conclusion is the same thing happen when I dropped to 7mg after another 3 months, by that time I was at target weight of a 4 stone loss.
I’ve been maintaining since and have slowly dropped down to 2.5mg and have not had anymore sickness.
Have you lost most of your weight? Could you think about dropping down a bit ?

That’s a really good point actually. At the moment. I’m. It sure if I’m going to continue because this is just horrible but if I do I’ll take it down to 5

Are you sure it's the MJ and not something else?

Mysticmaiden · 04/11/2025 05:46

It could be food related, I've had it a few times in 13 months on mj with pizza or a greasy beef burger. With the colder weather, have you changed what you've eaten? Are you more relaxed with carbs or fat? They are often the culprit. Or could it be a supplement or protein shake or something you've started taking around when it started?

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 04/11/2025 05:51

Side effects are random and can hit at any point. It likely to be something you have eaten that isn’t agreeing with you.

This was my story. It is so annoying.

I had the bad batch theory but cut down, changed pens etc and it kept happening. I have had it on Mounjaro and Wegovy.

My theory now is like people here - once I had lost a certain amount I couldn’t tolerate it any more.

I stopped for a bit and started taking psyllium husk and probiotics with digestive enzymes. The theory being that this would keep things moving enough that my stomach would not become the toxic waste dump that seemed to set off all the bad symptoms. Gained some weight and restarted. Now on 1mg Wegovy without side effects. (Also about 5k heavier than I was so can’t promise it’s the supplements)

It could be lots of things. You might have a bug. It might be something you ate.
I've been on MJ over a year now.
Mostly, I've had no side effects. But sometimes I get nauseous which I assume is the jab. It's not a pattern but sometimes day 2 or 3 and sometimes later in the week. I'm pretty sure it's the jab but no idea why its random.
I had pizza on holiday and was sure it had made me sick because of the unusual fat amount, turns out I had a bug as my DH got it aswell and he's not on MJ.
I'm on 12.5mg now and have been for 4 months. Two weeks ago I was randomly sick. Actually vomited after I ate my breakfast. I have no idea what caused it - standard porridge breakfast with coffee. I've never been sick before since starting MJ.
I'm guessing, that from time to time our bodies process the jab differently. Maybe we are a bit run down or fighting a bug and we react more strongly. I do wonder, if now I am lighter, I might react more strongly so would be open ot the possibility of going down in strength if it was happening more often.

I went all the way upto 15mg then when I hit bmi 25 most of the doses were too strong and I had to go down to 7.5mg. So there is some truth in weight loss and increased insulin sensitivity. I was prediabetic few years before MJ too so that would have been resolved with weight loss.

GCautist · 04/11/2025 16:23

It’s definitely not a bug.
it’s happened two weekends in a row so unlikely to be something I’ve eaten. I’m thinking maybe dose is too high now and I should go down it’s just whether to drop to 5 or go straight to 2.5. I can’t afford another week of being unwell.
