Accidentally restarted Mounjaro on 5mg

I’ve been off Mounjaro for a while, tried Wegovy but haven’t taken that for a few weeks now. I decided to restart Mounjaro tonight but accidentally took 5mg instead of starting on 2.5mg, do I need to worry? When I took it before I typically felt nauseous the first few days, but no other side effects. Just panicking a bit now esp as I’m going away on Wednesday.

As the half life is 5 days you’d be fine by wed, but how do you accidentally take twice the dose?

Presumably you had a 5mg pen (or higher) and intended to do a smaller dose but got the number of clicks wrong, or just did a full dose without thinking about it.

It will likely be fine, you may just experience stronger suppression and have some side effects. So bear that in mind. The peak of medicaiton will be in a couple of days in all likelihood and then after 5 days the level will be back down to half of what you injected, as the PP has said.

Thanks for the responses. I bought the 5mg pen and meant to do half but totally forgot and did the full dose. I blame the peri-menopause brain fog. I feel ok today which is a good sign, but was proper panicking last night.
