Starting October 2025 - Anyone over 50 or 60?

I’ve just placed an order with MedExpress for Mounjaro. Weighed myself for the first time in about 5 years yesterday and I was 11st 12lbs but am only 5ft 0in. I’m 63.

Hoping to receive the pen in the next day or so and then start on Sunday.

Anyone else over 50 or 60 who’s either just started or been on it a while? Am excited and nervous at the same time!

I’m over 60 and been on it for a while; just follow the instructions to the letter including pressing down for a few seconds after injecting (I missed that bit at first) and you’ll be fine. I was quite nervous but found it easier than I thought I would - the needle concerned me but I hardly noticed it.
Give yourself some time and have everything to hand; I no longer need the instructions but find it best not to rush. I now record my injections and the site I used on an app. If you need to change the day you inject and the time you can do so.

I'm 60 and short like you. Have my first mj pen in the fridge and intend to jab for the first time on Friday evening.

VioletandMauve · 15/10/2025 13:58

@kiwiane that’s good to know I’ll keep that in mind when I’m injecting!

Good luck! It would be good to know how you get on, side effects etc?

I'm 65.been on it 12 months +. From 13st 12 to10st 3 and a healthy bmi at last.im 5ft 5.
Mostly problem free....side effects at 7.5mg but resolved eventually after I took a break and restarted at 2.5mg .
I'm now working down from 10mg to 5mg for maintainable. Med express have been supportive and quick to respond to any requests for help.
My only regret is not starting strength training at the start as I am bit wrinkly on arms and legs but I'll take it.so good to be fitter ...look miles better in clothes ..and the food noise suppression is great.
The best of luck in your journey .

Hi Im 70 and been on Mounjaro for about 10 weeks. I started on 2.5 then 5 from the second month. I have been fine and lost 17lb so far. Be sure to drink lots of water as I have had a few times when Ive felt light headed when not had enough. If I go anywhere I have to make sure I can get to the toilet as I have to go as soon as. lol.

Oh that’s great, well done! I already do strength training and pilates so I’m going to keep this up which I hope will help supplement any weight loss. Also, good to know that you were mostly problem free.

I’m looking forward to food noise suppression!

Excellent news that’s great! Yes, I don’t drink enough water at the moment so I need to be conscious that I have to keep drinking lots. I know what you mean about trips to the toilet!

Hi I'm over 60 and also a shortie at 5'0''. I started mid May and weighed 11 stone 7lbs. It's taken me 5 months to lose 22lbs. I weigh 9st 13lbs now.
My advice would be to ensure you drink 2 litres of water daily and don't get despondent if you lose slowly......us shorties can find it harder to lose weight quickly.
I struggled when attempting to move up to 5mgs and suffered with diarrhoea. I'm still only at 3.75mgs.
Good 🤞

Hi, I've lost over 4 stone in 6 months, not all plain sailing, a few digestive issues, constipation, eased with more water, plus electrolytes, and pepto bismol when the nausea hits. My experience was that in the first couple of the months the weight losses were big and the euphoria of that was great, then as I moved up to 5 I started to get the digestive issues, nausea, I was sick a couple of times and awful constipation, resolved those and never went above 5,now it's maintenance, either with or without mj, it's kind of a deflating feeling literally and metaphorically lol, you think you'll be a different person once you've lost the weight because for so long I thought that, but you're not, you're the same person just 4.5 stone less, plus no amount of exercise in the world will spare you the wrinkly skin as an older woman I'm afraid, although resistance training and pilates has helped, I look awful without clothes.

Thanks, yes it sounds like we’re very similar with height and starting weights etc. Well done on your 22lbs! It’s interesting to know that us shorties lose it slower! I’ll definitely bear it in mind.

Yes, I have been thinking about the possible sagging skin, I think that’s a price I’ll be happy to pay?

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and well done on the 4 stone weight loss! I have yo-yo’d with weight in the past but found it so much harder to lose being older but I do remember feeling the same inside when I lost weight but just less of me!
