Pen was shipped 3 days ago but hasn't arrived? Help!

I'm with Cloud Pharmacy and I've never had any issues with delivery. But this month my pen was supposedly shipped on Monday but it hasn't been delivered yet. Will the pen still be effective? I have emailed Cloud but haven't had a response yet.

Was it definitely shipped on Monday, as in picked up by the courier company and in transit? The cold chain packaging should keep it between 2 and 8 degrees for 48 hours, but once it reaches room temp then the 30 day expiry countdown would have started. If you plan on using the pen when it arrives, then you would be able to use it within the 30 days without any issue. If you have ordered ahead and planned to keep it before using, then it would be up to you if you were happy to keep it and use it. The pharmacy should replace the pen though either way, if the delay is down to the delivery company, as none of the 30 day expiry limit should be used during the delivery process.

Thank you. I had an email from Cloud on Monday afternoon telling me it had been shipped. But since then I've had no notification from DPD telling me they have received it, or when it will be delivered or anything at all (which usually happens).

It may be that it hasn't actually been dispatched, and that when Cloud look into it, they will just send you out a pen as normal. Or, if DPD has lost it in their system, that again Cloud will send you out another pen. Hopefully they'll be able to sort it for you.

The 30 day countdown doesn't start as soon as it goes over 8 degC. Ely Lilly have a tool for pharmacists which allows them to check whether they can still issue a pen as normal to patients if it has been outside a fridge at high temperature.
I tried 3 days at 30 degC and the tool still said the pen was absolutely fine to be given to a patient as if nothing had happened. So I don't think you have anything at all to worry about for the time being.

What does the tracking say?

Arraminta · 09/10/2025 16:48

On the Cloud website it says 'Shipped' and that was on Monday. But there's been nothing since.

Hi I had this as well last week. It turned up a day or so later - so not the 24 hour delivery I was expecting but all good.
Sorry - just seen you have been waiting much longer. The delivery contract is between Cloud and DPD so they need to solve. There is a phone number for cloud - it's 01506 901275 and they were very helpful when I called.

So, the pen turned up yesterday but delivered to our NDN? Also I hadn't received a single piece of communication from DPD. Usually I get a series of emails letting me know they have received the parcel, that it's out for delivery, it's delivery time slot etc. But I'd literally had zilch. Really odd.
