Anyone else struggling after switching to wegovy?

Littlebitpsycho · 05/10/2025 18:33

Used mounjaro for 9 months, lost about 4st. Just about got to goal weight as the prices went up, so decided to switch to wegovy for maintenance (was on 10mg mounjaro).

Had to start at the bottom on 0.25, now on 0.5. I AM SO HUNGRY! I'm really struggling with food noise again already and already starting to gain weight slowly. Anyone else? Is wegovy just not as effective? Will going up another dose have a miraculous change? I'm really stressing, ive made so many good chances to my lifestyle to assist with keeping the weight off but the food noise is killing me!

Wegovy is less effective, on average, than Mounjaro. Mounjaro has two actions, it’s a GLP1 agonist and also another hormone receptor GIP. Wegovy is a GLP1 agonist only.

Some pharmacies have allowed people to swap to a higher dose of Wegovy than the starting 0.25mg, if they’ve been on the higher doses of Mounjaro. At 10mg, some places would have suggested starting at 1mg of Wegovy, or even 1.7mg. So, I would persevere with it until you get to the higher doses if you can.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/10/2025 19:53

You should be on a much higher dose!
I was on 15mg MJ and CheqUp let me have 2.4mg Wegovy.

It's working fine.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/10/2025 19:55

I'd suggest your dose of Wegovy is much too low.
Change to a pharmacy which will give you the right dose.

If you want a CheqUp Code, give me a shout.

I’m hungry too. I was on 7.5mg of MJ and due to go up to 10mg when they increased the prices. I was moved to 1mg of Wegovy but will tell them I need to move up as I’m not losing and I’m hungry!

I changed from 10mg Mounjaro to 1.7mg Wegovy with Juniper - I got £79 discount on my first order & £15 off every subsequent month. DM me for discount code !

Jambuck · 06/10/2025 01:51

Thanks everyone, I've asked to go up another dose so next time I'll be on 1mg - I was hoping not to have to go too high as I'm only looking to maintain not lose. But food noise is my worst nightmare!

You can take it every 5 days to increase the concentration which I've done before under prescriber approval for mounjaro when suppression wore off.
I'm on 10mg but have been upto 15mg and tapered down the doses, I've been approved to start on 1.7mg with Oushk. I would look at moving pharmacies.

I’m really struggling after previously being on 12.5mg mounjaro (now on 2.4mg Wegovy).

Weight loss has pretty much stalled for the last month, lost 3lbs in my first week then nothing since. Also have terrible wind! Seriously considering switching back, has anyone done this yet?

ChaosDreamV2 · 13/10/2025 23:11

@millenialmollyi’ve gone back to MJ 🫣 was previously on 12.5 and just about to step up to 15 when the price change came in so switched to 2.4 wegovy which I’ve not found effective. Asked med express to move back to MJ and they’ve prescribed me 10mg which I’ve just taken tonight. Was hoping to find some success stories of ppl switching to Weg

KramerKramer · 14/10/2025 11:09

I'm enormously disappointed in Weg. I'm on maintenance but I feel as though there's a risk of my weight increasing on flipping Weg! No suppression to speak of, food noise noising.

I feel as though I've completely wasted my money. I'm on a three months on/one month on maintenance schedule. I'm not wasting another penny on Weg. I'll pay more for MJ - it's far, far better imo, for me at least. Glad its working for some people anyway!

No side effects at least!

CoatiCutie · 14/10/2025 12:12

struggling on wegovy too - MJ was so effective :(

I'm using chequp atm, so I know others have said it, but if you want £50 off, let me know your email address

Jambuck · 15/10/2025 08:42

Im not chancing Weg. Dont think it filters out the sugars the same as MJ. I was on MJ March to July. Lost 2 1/2 stone. But then diagnosed with underactive thyroid. To rule out it wasnt the MJ causing my T levels to be high GP suggested coming off for a bit. Back on now. Just about to go up to 5ml Sunday. But price now is awful. Cant get 7.5ml for less than £200 anywhere and that is with codes.

meatyryvita · 15/10/2025 08:50

I'm still struggling. I am absolutely keeping to my calories, water is good, protein is great and still I'm either STS or putting weight on! If I don't get a result tomorrow (week 5 of Wegovy), I'm moving back to MJ.

Humblebumble123 · 15/10/2025 19:55

SOrry it's not kicking in for you. I switched to Wegovy after 3 months on monk 5mg which worked wonders and helped me lose 2 stone.

The Wegovy didn't do anything for me. I was on 1.7 but decided to switch back after a month on that after 1mg as I was so miserable. After 2 days of 5mg mono I got the suppression back and my weight has started to drop again after 1 week.

Horses for courses, the other recs to go up the doses until it kicks in sounds reasonable.

bumbaloo · 15/10/2025 20:26

You were on a high dose of Mounjaro and have been on the lowest doses of Wegovy and you are surprised you are hungry

I was on 5mg MJ before starting Weg. I absolutely expected there to be a difference, but I had almost total suppression on 2.5 MJ from the get-go.

The difference with Weg is profound. I have pretty much zero suppression, and I'm actually craving sweet things - I don't have a sweet tooth at all. My food noise is loud and clear.

I'm sure it works for plenty of people, but I'm switching back to MJ for my maintenance.

I switched about 2 months ago was on highest dose of mounjaro and went to the 2nd highest wegovy after the price hike. Didn't seem to be as effective for the 1st 4 weeks so went to the highest dose on wegovy. I am 3 weeks in and honestly think I'm just wasting my money. I have maintained my weight but through hard work on my behalf and I'm feeling hungry again and food noise has been ridiculous. From the 1st dose on mounjaro all that disappeared for me. I'm just going to stop after this last dose as no point if not working and mounjaro is just to expensive for me at the moment.

gracijela · 30/03/2026 08:40

I am in a similar situation. I started on Wegovy nearly 2 years ago, and it worked for a while. Switched to Mounjaro which worked well but got too expensive and I went back to Wegovy, starting with the lowest dose. Of course it wasn't working as well and I had terrible cravings, but even now at the 2.4 mg I still crave sweet things, which is my prime reason for putting on weight. It's a constant struggle which I don't think it should be on the highest dose. Any advice?

WhatwouldMadonnasay · 30/03/2026 08:44

It was a complete waste of money for me as it made zero impact. I switched back to MJ in six weeks and am slowly going back up to doses to 10mg. I still have a stone to lose.

gracijela · 31/03/2026 08:57

I really don't understand it as, when I first went on Wegovy, the food noise actually did disappear and I was doing well. I then wanted to try Mounjaro out of sheer curiosity and to lose weight faster (I guess I shouldn't have done it). Could it be simply that Mounjaro worked so well that nothing will ever compare? Still, I can't understand that now, after 8 months of being back to Wegovy, the sweet cravings just cannot go away.
