Had a lovely holiday and stayed on MJ - it’s worth it!

I’m just back from a lovely ‘holiday of a lifetime’, 2.5 weeks in the US, staying in some fab places (lucky me) and seeing many iconic sites on the West Coast.

I uhmed and ahhed so much beforehand as to whether to stay on MJ or take a break but in the end, decided to stay on it but instead of following strict calories, just listen to my body and eat only when I was hungry. To be honest, I’ve been a bit obsessive about calorie counting and so this was a good excuse to break out of that and ‘eat mindfully’ instead. Also I had to break out of the bad habit of weighing every day (no scales when you’re staying in hotels!) but I managed it. We had a fab holiday, ate out, had some treats, worked in lots of walks and didn’t obsess over food.

Got back yesterday and when I got on the scales, I’d stayed the same - no weight gain at all. I’d expected a few pounds but was really pleased to be the same weight on return. It’s quite a NSV for me as normally holidays mean falling first into the buffet and coming back fat and depressed! MJ really is a miracle.

@@thefanisblowing sounds like a great holiday!

Just wait a few days and you’ll likely see a drop as you will be carrying some extra fluid from the flight etc.

Yes, I half wondered that too! Towards the end of the week, I felt (by my clothes) that I might have lost a couple of pounds so we’ll see!

For me, the biggest ‘victory’ was realising that I can actually eat ‘mindfully’ without feeling deprived. I pretty much had everything I fancied (America is definitely over run with choice when it comes to food!) but I didn’t have much of it and stopped when my full signals kicked in. I’ve never felt able to do that before. I also found that when ordering I was instinctively choosing ‘protein first’ rather than ‘carbs first’ as I would have done in the past. All good progress in my mental battle with food!

Well done OP, that is a wonderful NSV. Being able to relax and enjoy lovely holidays stress free from worry of ‘messing up’ a diet and gaining = big ✅ ✅ for MJ!

All the very best on your continued journey down (and it’s never too early to plan your next adventure! 😊 ✈️ ☀️ 🏖️🍹)
