I want to drink next friday

I'm on my second month of 2.5. today is jab day. I'm going for a night out next Friday and I don't normally drink at all. The last time I had a single drink was July.

Anyway, I know alcohol and MJ aren't a great mix so I'm just wondering if I should skip this week's jab so that I don't feel ill or do you think I should still do this week's jab as normal as my night out is a week away so not enough Mj is in my system to make me feel too ill?

Does that make sense?

I've had one night out since starting MJ and the main effect I noticed is that the alcohol effect lasted longer - probably due to the MJ slowing down my metabolism. So maybe pace yourself a bit more than normal.

Rorpethy · 27/09/2025 08:49

No definitely more than 1 or 2!

I've drunk alcohol regularly in the 4 months ive been on MJ with no issues. I find it hits me quicker and more intensely so one drink feels like 2. So I'm careful to drink a lot less, be mindful of food and water intake but it hasn't stopped me enjoying a couple of beers or glasses of wine each weekend.

If you're going to be drinking at the very end of your jab week and you're still only on 2.5 then I would say that's not bad for giving it a go. If you feel rough the next day then delay the next jab one day to Sunday.

I threw up once in the middle of the night after drinking, but it was the day after jab day and I was drinking a whole bottle of fizz until near to when I went to bed. Since then I rarely have anything but if I do I stick to white wine and no more than a couple of glasses and always stop some time before going to bed.

What I find, though, is I don't get the dopamine "feedback" - that booze buzz - in the same way on MJ. I think it's partly that it enters the bloodstream more slowly because of delayed gastric emptying, and partly whatever witchcraft MJ does to the brain.

Don't be surprised if you find you don't actually want to drink - I have absolutely no taste for it anymore!

Yes, in general, this. The bottle of fizz night was one heatwave evening when I really craved that "sit out late drinking" feeling.

I’ve been on MJ for a year and regularly drink.
I was cautious at first until I knew what the effects would be. But it doesn’t stop me enjoying a night out at all. Maybe have glass of wine this weekend and see how you feel?
I find if I have drink on or near jab day I’m likely to be a bit loose on the toilet the next day (sorry TMI!)

And I can’t drink as much as I would before, but that’s no bad thing…

BrendaSmall · 27/09/2025 09:20

I’ve not had alcohol since Christmas, lol until last week when I was on an all inclusive holiday!
it was help yourself to the wine at mealtimes
I couldn’t refuse as it was South African wine and so nice
Had at least a bottle if not more every day and I was fine!

Rorpethy · 27/09/2025 10:27

Okay thanks everyone I think I'm going to risk taking the jab today and take it slow on Friday. I'll likely not drink again until Christmas so I just wanted to enjoy myself and not worry about side effects.

Avoid wine. I don't know if it's just me, but wine on MJ makes me quite ill -and I love wine! - but I find that beer or gin & tonic is fine.
I also find I don't get the instant alcohol "buzz" anymore - more of an instant woozy feeling instead.

89DaysToLoseIt · 27/09/2025 13:54

I found the opposite.

I could drink as much as I wanted last Christmas and I was never sick or hungover.

Rorpethy · 27/09/2025 15:43

I definitely won't be drinking wine. 1 glass gives me an instant headache.

You will be fine I’m sure. I regularly have a glass of wine . Make sure you stay hydrated with minimum a glass of water with each drink

it does hit me faster , and although I don’t get hangover as such I do feel it the day after especially feeling dehydrated

Just in case anyone comes across this thread I thought I'd update. Went out last night and drank more then I usually would on a night out. It barely seemed to effect me. It was very strange. I don't feel hungover this morning, I just 'feel it' if you know what I mean? Not what I was expecting.
