Switching to wegovy

I’ve been given the green light to switch from 15mg mounjaro (have been on it for 13 months and lost 5 stone) to the highest dose of wegovy which I am eventually hoping to titrate down.

What can I expect to happen? Does anyone have any advice for me please?

I think there won’t be many people who would be in the same position. Many pharmacies won’t switch to the highest dose like this, and many people won’t be on 15mg.

I must say I think I’d be a bit worried about going in straight at the highest dose and presumably also no gap between?

I hear you. I’m planning on reducing the clicks and not giving myself full dose. I want to really start titration slowly and safely so that I can withdraw safely without stopping. There were no lower dose pens available son opted for this knowing that my aim wasn’t for maximum dose.

I've been sent the highest dose of Wegovy as well (2.4mg).

I'm going to start it next week, as I had my last MJ out of the current pen, yesterday.

I'm go back to MJ if Wegovy doesn't work.

Thanks for answering @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne. I truly don’t even know what to expect to
be honest - in terms of its delivery. I’ve read about the slight difference in the active ingredients and like you, hope that this will be as effective. Is the pen very different in how it works? Is there a click chart anywhere?! No way do I want the full dose!

I switched from MJ to WG and did my first injection last week, although I’m on a lower dose than you’ve been prescribed. It was easier to administer and injected much quicker. No side effects so far and doesn’t feel any different!

I’m just a little concerned about going in at full
dose - it’s clearly safe to do so otherwise I wouldn’t have been sold it. MedExpress are if anything, thorough after all.

@Kaggi9Is the pen the same as the MJ pen? Same delivery and same ‘clicks’?

@YohoCrimbo it looks and feels very similar. I haven’t counted the clicks if I’m honest, I just take the standard dose! I’m with SheMed, so it’s just delivered every 4 weeks.

The dose is contained in 0.75ml of the liquid.
MJ is contained in 0.6ml of the liquid.

I'm assuming therefore that 75 clicks is 2.4mg Wegovy (in a 2.4mg pen)

But don't quote me on that. I'll have a look and see if I can confirm it.

21 months.

I've lost 8st 1lb.

I'm down to 12st 1lb now and my BMI is just under 30. It was over 50 when I started.

I've got about 18lb to go, to get to my goal. I've actually now got 2 x Wegovy pens and 3 x MJ pens in the fridge.

I'm planning to start the Wegovy next week. If it works, I'll use the pens up, and gradually titrate down on Wegovy.

I'm feeling absolutely fine. No side-effects whatsoever.

I feel like I did on MJ. I can feel appetite suppression and the food noise is quiet.

So, so far, so good. I'll update when I weigh myself.

I've got one last dose at 10mg MJ and then I'm switching to 1.7mg of Wegovy. Bit anxious about any potential side effects as the first time I took MJ I was literally violently vomiting uncontrollably with the other end not being much better either.
But I'm also a really slow looser too. Lost 10kg ISH since May on MJ, going up a dose every month so didn't want to go right down to a low dose of wg incase I put it back on. I find even the day or two before injection day, the food noise is back and I'm struggling to control my eating. I know this will be an issue when it comes to coming off the jabs in the end too but will deal with that when the time comes!

Right, I'm at the end of Week One on 2.4mg Wegovy.

I've lost 1lb.
I'm happy to carry on.

Have you felt any different than when you were on mj? Are you getting a good suppression? I’m thinking of getting wg this time as I simply can’t afford to keep on with mj
