I’ve just been approved for mounjaro. Just wondered if anyone who’s on it has been my starting weight of 15st 9lb and is 5’8” - if so, what is your weight now and how long did it take to lose it? Thank you

I'm 5ft 8. My starting weight was higher than that (17st 4, back in late March) but looking back at my notes I hit 15st 9 near the end of May. I'm now 13st 6.75 with just under a couple of stones still to go. Hoping to be there by late November.

I'm early 50s, post-menopausal so that makes a difference too.

Good luck!

Hurrah for 5'8". I do love my height! Aren't we lucky!

I started at 16.5, a bit more than you, and am aged mid 50's. Very menopausal!

I've lost over 5 stone in all, (I got to 15.9 in late January if that helps) & I got to my target in mid August.
I am now 11.2 and aiming to maintain.

Some weeks I lost a pound and others it was suddenly 4. Yet I was doing pretty much the same thing week in, week out. Generally it was about 7lb a month.
I eat Protein, fibre, Healthy fats like olive oil, virtually no white carbs, some wine at the weekends. I haven't counted calories, just eaten small portions, 3 meals a day.

I bought some little hand weights and started doing arm exercises every morning. I could see my butterfly wings shrinking and muscles growing each day. I also got a yoga mat and do a few floor exercises every day to strengthen my back & core.
Swimming twice a week, and walking as much as I can.

Starting MJ was a difficult decision at the time, but it turns out it was the best one I have ever made since I said yes to DH's proposal 37 years ago!

I'm 5'5" and weighed the same. Now just under 11 stone and feel great.

Hi op, wow, snap! I'm 5'8" and was 15st, 11lbs when I started exactly a month ago. I'm due to weigh myself tomorrow morning, so I don't know yet the exact amount I've lost this last week, but by the end of the third week, I'd lost 10 lbs.

What clothes size do you take, out of interest? It's just that other people who are my weight and height seem to usually take a larger clothes size than me. I'm a size 14/16. I am quite big boned and quite an athletic figure (muscly legs), so this may make a difference. For that reason, I'm aiming for a goal weight of about 12 stone. This would put me at a bmi of 26, but I look and feel slim at that bmi, so I'll stick to that aim I think. What are you aiming for?

Not sure of what weight I’m aiming for as I never used to weigh myself so not sure what I was when I liked how I looked! But I think around 12st?
i’m currently a 14 on top as I have a large bust and have just crept into a size 16 on my bottom half. The biggest I’ve ever been!
I'm usually a size 12 hourglass shape with a defined waist and flat stomach. I’ve always had heavy thighs though but I’m fairly small boned with thin wrists and ankles and defined collar bones.

Well done! I can’t wait to see my transformation!
I’ve got some hand weights so will make sure I use those too

The sizing thing is very interesting. At my current weight I'm only just fitting back into 16s in trousers and jeans and am 16-18 on top, although a) big boobs and broad shoulders b) I don't like things tight fitting and c) clothes sizes are completely inconsistent even within the same brand these days.

Like @MagnoliaTreePetals I've been doing weights at home and am trying to get into yoga as well, and walking a lot more too now assorted joints and tendons don't hurt any more when I do.

AnneElliott · 15/09/2025 18:35

I’m 5’8 but starting weight was a bit higher than yours. I’m now 10.5 stone and it took me 11 months to get to that weight.

WoolerOwl · 15/09/2025 21:13

Yes. 5.8 and 15.10. Started end of Feb. 11.5 at end of August weigh in. Aiming for 10.10. Now comfortably a size 12. Still got a v wobbly stomach though!

I measured in kgs to get over the memories of previous sticking points. Lost 8kg in the first month, then 5, then about 3-4 after that.

Top tips. Cut the sugar and white carb crap. Intermittent fasting (eating noon to 7pm) has been helpful. Lots of lean protein, veg, small portions of healthy carbs. High nutritional content eg eggs, avocados, chia seeds, nut butters, oats, olive oil, a rainbow of fruit and veg. Collagen supplements, plus psyllium husk, magnesium citrate at night, lots of water.

I started exercising about four months in. Just over half way through C25k. Also resistance training with bands etc.

Feeling great! I can’t recommend it highly enough. Lots of great support on Mumsnet. It’s worth finding your month starters thread and joining in as you’ll go through similar things at similar points. Also worth reading the month or two before and learning from their experience.

Hi! I’m 5’8 and started at beginning of May at 15-7. I’m now 12-11 and my goal weight is 12-0 so the end is in sight! I’ve been losing around two pounds a week but it has slowed down a little bit. I’ve gone up to 7.5 mg to keep suppressing going, and not suffered too badly with side effects but I do feel very tired the day after jab day, which for me is a Sunday, so it’s my chill day 😊. Good luck!

I'm 5'7" and began Mounjaro on 2nd February this year at 15 stones 6.5 lbs. I'm now 11 stones 8 lbs with technically a stone to go to reach my recommended weight although I think 11 stone is going to be my target. The weight loss has been steady, average 1 to 2 lbs a week. I'm at the stage now though that I'm fed up with the side effects, especially fatigue, low mood and nausea so I'm currently tapering my dose down from 10mg with a view to being done with it by November. I've extended the injections to every 10 days and 5 clicks less each time till the pen runs out. I'm still losing weight at the same rate for now even though I've been tapering down for the last three weeks so 11 stones looks doable. I've got enough needles for about 2 months.
I've been watching Jason Fung on YouTube lately to remind myself how well intermittent fasting 16;8 and keeping an eye on carbs and highly processed foods has worked for me in the past to avoid regaining the weight. He explains really well why just calorie counting has such a low success rate compared to food restriction using intermittent fasting and choosing real food. I lost 4 stone 10 years ago, and using Fung's advice kept it off. Just couldn't lose any more and that's where Mounjaro has worked its magic.
I'm not discounting going back on Mounjaro if I can't control the weight gain but I'd like to see if it's possible without.
