Just started HRT a few months ago and feeling like my body weight will not shift despite me strength training, walking getting my 10,00 steps in. The food noise I have is bad some days and I crave sugar would injections stop this? I understand prices etc have gone up looking to shift around 2 stone where’s the best place to get them

Depends on your bmi as you need to be above 30 for a prescription or 27 and a qualifying health condition. It would help with food noise and sugar cravings. Loon on www.monj.co.uk

Hello. What's your BMI?
I'm on WLI and HRT.

Pinklady81 · 12/09/2025 06:50

BMI of 27

You will only qualify with a BMI of 27 if you have a weight-related condition like high BP, pre-diabetes etc, or if you are from certain ethnic groups.

MJ stopped the food noise for me on HRT, the only thing to consider is the drug can interact with oral HRT. Do some research around that if you take any tablets (assuming you can qualify at BMI 27).

You've been suggested Monj but I always suggest click.compare as well on these threads as different pharmacies are listed.

Some prescribers categorise peri menopause /- menopause as a qualifying condition at a BMI of 27 or higher.MJ definitely helps with food noise and sugar cravings.

I’ve never heard that before, do you know which prescribers?

@Pinklady81 it’s has 100% worked for me but I started with a BMI of 32, I have so many post meno friends who would like to take WLI but don’t qualify (without lying) it’s something I think in time may change and WLI may become a preventative drug you take to stop you getting obese, but who know when that might happen, there are lots of new drugs being researched and lots will change in the next few years.
I hope it will be available to more people because it’s worked so well for me and makes me feel more healthy than I have in years, I think it complements my HRT, I feel younger now at 62 than I did at 55.
I do know some people have gone to a private endocrinologist and have been prescribed with a BMI under standard so maybe that is an area you could look at, but it’s obviously more expensive.

Similar situation to you OP. On HRT and had put on weight after some medical issues and change of lifestyle post COVID. Combo of high cholesterol and osteo arthritis (I think) meant I got it prescribed. Worked brilliantly and now 3 month later I’m at target weight and am feeling so much better. Not tapering but I only ever had 2.5. I’m maintaining sensible eating and drinking a lot less. Keeping an eye on weight in a way I didn’t previously.

I'm with Simple Online Pharmacy and in the health assessment questionnaire ( Question 9 ) perimenopause/ menopause is listed as one of the conditions that can be ticked. My BMI was over 30 when I started MJ so was eligible for it in any event , but the narrative in the questionnaire suggests that they consider prescribing to candidates at a lower than 30 BMI if they have one of the weight gain related conditions listed ( and they list peri/ menopause in that section).

Pinklady81 · 12/09/2025 17:05

I’ve got endometriosis and that affects my weight but that’s not listed where is best to get them from

OP posts:
VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 12/09/2025 17:41

I don't think endo is considered a weight-related condition for these purposes, OP, but then I didn't think peri / menopause were either and this thread seems to suggest otherwise. Look at monj.co.uk to compare prices and then you will need to contact pharmacies directly to ask their criteria. If you do an advanced search you may find MNers who have successfully been prescribed MJ with similar conditions. Good luck!

I’d email a few online ones and ask whether they’d prescribe - mention the endo and why that affects weight as well as menopause. Just send the same email to multiple suppliers, and see if any say yes. I’d be inclined to go for the maintenance one who already accept people at lower BMIs.

I’m using Swift. Maybe try them. Explain in as much detail as you can why you think you’d benefit etc.

But look on Monj and Isend the same email to a number of them.
