Anxiety since being on injections

Hi, this is my first time posting. I’ve been on mounjaro for 7 weeks (stayed on 2.5mg) now and the last 3 weeks or so I have been having really horrible spells of anxiety. I’ve never had anxiety before well definitely not this bad. I just feel worried all the time and I’m trying to constantly keep busy so I don’t over think a situation. I’m unsure if it’s linked to the jabs but it’s the only thing that I’ve changed in my life.
i actually feel extremely happy right now with my life so this is really bothering me.
I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same?

It's a known side effect unfortunately. Anxiety went up a bit for me on ozempic and I increased my anti-depressant a bit (after talking to the dr) and that resolved it for me.

Thank you for your response. I’m not sure what to do because this is an awful feeling. I’m also feeling so good about myself losing weight.

Hi @Oodledoodle1 I just found your thread and am wondering if you still have the anxious feeling or did it pass? My stomach is churning and i am unreasonably nervous about doing normal things! Thanks

Hi, anxiety is a side effect sadly. I’ve been on it since October 2024, and get the worst anxiety and panic attacks when i increase my dose. I know some people just have to come off it as it doesn’t suit, but I reduced the dose to 1.25 and slowly went up. Just to say it took ages but I went from 81kg to 63kg so feel it was worth it. But even now, if I try to increase my dose the first 3-4 weeks are just hellish. Wishing you all the luck if you decide to ride it out xx

Thanks so much for replying @crumbssonmyface. I feel better knowing that it’s a known side effect and not a mental health issue. This is the first week of a full 5mg dose so what you’ve said makes sense. I feel a lot better today and will count the clicks to something more manageable for next week. I’m relieved that I can do something about it. The suppression has been too much this week. Thank you!

Good luck lovely, and glad I could help.
Forgot to add in my original post that up your electrolytes and sugar as well - I know it sounds weird, but low sugar can also trigger off anxiety badly as well. But yeah give it a few weeks and hopefully it’ll settle - the jump to 5mg is a big one! X
