Periods on Mounjaro

I wondered if anyone else's periods messed up since on MJ? Im on the rod and I dont often have periods, and when I do they're nothing much to write about and don't last long. They tend to be my hormonal DD or work colleagues drawing me in to their cycles every now and then.
However, im just about to take jab 4 and both last weekend and this weekend it's like im at the begining of a period? Started last fri to sun, then again this fri?
Has anyone else experienced this? Didnt know if there's a link or my periods just fancy a time to shine? 🤣🤦‍♀️

When I started my periods went a bit weird. I am peri but still very regular and there was an 8 week delay after I started on the mj. Then they settled back down. Seems to be a ‘thing’ to do with fat loss and impact on hormones

I had very heavy periods pre-Mounjaro, I’m 3 months in and they are much lighter. I also have PCOS and one of the reasons I was so keen to start Mounjaro was hearing from others that it had really helped with their symptoms. I’m hoping it continues! 🤞🤞🤞

We store oestrogen in our fat. So when we lose weight our oestrogen levels go up as it is released. This change in level can lead to some irregularity in periods. However they should settle down again.

Also, if one is on HRT and taking progesterone orally, you might need to up the dose as there is a theory (and it is only a theory) that as WLI's slow down digestion, the progesterone is not absorbed as efficiently. This would show up as unexpected bleeding or heavier bleeding.
So if you are taking it as a cycle (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off) or are just taking 1 capsule a day, you may need to up it to 2 capsules and/or every day.

If you are bleeding more than you are used to you may consider taking some extra iron eg spatone (and some vitamin C to aid its absorption; I take it with a small shot of orange juice).

Finally, if your bleeding is suddenly much heavier and/or frequent it is a very good idea to see your GP as it could be for another reason entirely, and not the WLI.

As always, our hormones like to take centre stage and shine, whatever life choices we seem to make!!!

Yes I got periods back again - also on nexplanon. However, weight loss is now minimal/maintaining and I’ve recently had a new implant fitted and they’ve stopped again so I’m not sure if it was just close to expiry or if it’s because the weight loss has steadied - probably a bit of both.

Thanks everyone. Mine seemed to have settled back down, for now anyway. So not sure if just a blip or if similar will happen next month, but I really appreciate everyone's input, advice etc 😊
