So I'm going to be starting wegovy. I'm feeling nervous anyone else starting or not long started. Let's support each other

I’m 10 weeks in to Wegovy. It’s been fine. A few side effects such as fatigue, and the odd bit of constipation and or diarrhea but nothing horrendous. Have lost just over a stone.

I felt the reduced appetite within 12 hours of the first jab. That then diminished throughout the week I find but it was still noticeable.

Lots of water, lots of protein, lots of fibre - all essential. You still have to “do the work”, it’s not a magic wand, but IME helps with “willpower”.

Good luck!

Casperthefriendlyghoast · 07/09/2025 10:29

@DunnoMate thank you for those helpfull hints. Just over a stone? wow! thats impressive im happy for you.

Hi, I’ve just ordered Wegovy, I’m also nervous, I’ve tried every diet under the sun and nothing seems to work long term. I’ve seen some good results about the weight loss jabs but a total newbie myself. I was debating to go down the Mounjaro route but it’s so expensive so going to give Wegovy a go. Good luck and let me know how you get on x

Casperthefriendlyghoast · 07/09/2025 10:59

@Elliebearblues ah good luck to you, I'm the same and that why I'm trying Wegovy. We can do this. Im 5ft 2 and about 12 stone 9 (81-82kilos) I would like to get back to at least 10 and a half stone if not 10. We shall see.

Elliebearblues · 07/09/2025 11:06

I’m 5ft 3 and about 13 stone so @Casperthefriendlyghoast we’re at about the same starting point and my goal is 101/2 to 10 stone too. My Perscription had just been accepted so hopefully should be here by the end of next week. A few people I have been chatting too said to do the jab in the evening so the nausea will pass if you get any whilst you sleep. I may do the jab before bed then. Have you got your pens yet? When do you plan on starting? x

DunnoMate · 07/09/2025 11:50

I’m a bit taller but hitting 13st is what prompted me to start. Also aimimg for 10st as my goal.

I live abroad and had to “go private” for this as a bmi of 30 is needed for standard access to WLI, and mine was 28. My private doctor told me this kind of weight and bmi is really common to see as people “start to address things before they get worse” and in a separate health check at work where I told that doctor, she applauded me for “doing something”.

It seems that maintaining or increasing muscle is compulsory for post-WLI life as the more muscle you have the more you naturally burn fat (or something like that). Not easy to do but trying….

DunnoMate · 07/09/2025 11:53

@Elliebearblues i do my jab on a Friday morning. The slight nausea I’ve had tends to last a few days or comes on after having eaten crap or drunk alcohol rather than just constant nausea immediately after the jab if that makes sense.

Elliebearblues · 07/09/2025 15:57

@DunnoMate thanks for the info, I paid privately as it’s so hard to get on the NHS very few due. I normally have a couple of glasses of wine on the weekend is this still advised? Or will it make me feel rotten? x

So my prescription arrived today and I did my first injection about 10am before I headed to work. It took about a week to receive the prescription.

I've just received my first wegovy pen, I'm at target having done 7 months on mounjaro. Was on 10mg mounjaro but had to start on the lowest dose of wegovy. I was lucky to have basically no side effects so I'm really hoping wegovy is similar - only hoping for enough suppression to maintain rather than lose!

Having to start on the lowest dose is a bit harsh. Just took my first wegovy dose just now after 3 months of Mounjaro.

Let us know how you get on Littlebitpsycho.

Everyone’s different. I don’t drink much anyway so it’s not limiting for me. I do tend to feel tipsier quicker though and perhaps a little more gross (as opposed to hungover) the next day.

Overall I’d say it’s worth experimenting a bit - this is a medium/long-term thing so give things a go and see how it makes you feel.

Hi all, I've had Wegovy sitting in my fridge for the past 6 weeks. Ive been so nervous about starting (massive health / side effects anxiety). I'm currently 15 stone and 5ft 6. I was 16 stone 10 in April and have lost on Weight Watchers - but I've definitely hit a wall.
Anyway, I think its time I started....
How are the new starters getting on? X

Hiya, I literally had my Wegovy Perscription yesterday morning and jabbed last night before bed. I honestly don’t feel any different at the moment. No symptoms so to speak off. I’m not starving this morning but I rarely eat breakfast anyway, think it may take some time to see if the food noise and appetite suppression goes away. I’m going to concentrate on having lots of fluids today. Had a 500ml bottle of water this morning and now having a coffee with vanilla protein topper on it, gorgeous. I’d say go for it and jab tonight if possible.

i tried so many clubs to lose weight and in 2009 actually got to target weight with Weightwatchers after having my 2 kids fast forward another 3 kids later and the weights not shifting this time .

let us know how you get on and good luck xx

BohoBiscuit · 10/09/2025 11:47

@Elliebearblues I jabbed last night! Haven't been super hungry - even managed Asda without even thinking about snacks.... probably all in my mind at the moment. I really need to drink more water and I'm trying to have more protein.

Do you have much to lose? Ideally I'd like to lose 3.5 stone.

Good luck to all new starters 😊

i just had a chicken salad wrap for lunch and feel slightly nauseous, a bit of a bad head came on this morning but manageable. I want to lose about 2.5-3 stone x

Nosferafternoon · 10/09/2025 12:46

Hi all,
I've got mine sitting in the fridge but waiting until Monday to start in case it makes me feel a bit rotten as ive got a weekend away and a work thing Monday morning.
I'm eager to get started though, but very nervous about any side effects that might be more serious 😬 I can deal with stomach side effects as I already suffer with ibs.

I'm 5ft 2 and just over 12 stone, hoping to get down to my pre child weight of 9 stone to get me into a healthy bmi again.
I already try to eat healthily and count calories but never get any continued weight loss after half a stone. I carry a lot of weight on my thigh/hip area which never shifts! So i'm hoping this might help that too if can lose a bit more.

Good luck to you all and please keep updating as it'll be nice to be able to chat to those in a similiar position 😊

Casperthefriendlyghoast · 10/09/2025 19:47

So nice to see so many nice messages. So I jabbed Sunday and have felt fine. Felt like I need to drink more water but otherwise ok. And I notice I'm not hungry at all. Let's do this 😀

I’ve just ordered mine. I need to lose a lot of weight- about 25kg- and I’m hoping this will help while I train myself back into eating properly.

Menopause, stress and stupid working hours have screwed my ability to think properly about food. I want to reclaim that and start to like my body again, currently I don’t like being inside myself very much.

Hard relate to this. Having lost a stone in 10 weeks I do feel better, and you will too!

Elliebearblues · 11/09/2025 16:44

I did my first jab tue evening, I do have the occasional bout of nausea but nothing major one thing I did notice today was that I had 2 slices of toast about 10.30am and it filled me up for 5 hours I couldn’t believe it 😮

BohoBiscuit · 12/09/2025 12:11

Hi everyone. 3rd day for me and haven't noticed any changes in terms of food noise. Still the same appetite and cravings.
But, woke up this morning and feel pretty rough. My knees and feet really hurt and I feel like I have a cold coming. Not sure if this is a thing or not??

Hope everyone's doing OK!

Nosferafternoon · 15/09/2025 13:38

How's everyone doing?
Ive taken my first does this afternoon.
Still not sure what to expect really. Did side effects, suppression etc kick in straight away for you all?

Muffintopmumma · 15/09/2025 14:27

I'll join in if you don't mind. Took my first dose on Thursday morning and quite disappointed as I've felt rubbish most the weekend and felt so sick this morning, yet still have largely the same appetite. I ate a bit less yesterday, but today I feel I could stuff my face given half a chance. Not sure if I'm expecting too much too soon.

So difficult to know what to expect. I expect we are all probably expecting too much quickly in hope!
Sorry you've felt so ill on it, hopefully it eases off as you get used to it
