Gong on holiday. Would you jab as normal?

Off on holiday for a fortnight. Would you jab as normal or decrease the dose?
I'd like to enjoy the food but in moderation. I'll take a small gain up to 4lb but don't want to put in more than that.
I'm on week 10 and 3.75 mg with good and average surpression days.

I've taken mine continuously even on holiday. It doesn't stop me enjoying myself and I've still managed to eat out without any issues. I even had a few treats - I get some days when my suppression is pretty low and I eat more. I did come back without gaining any weight which I was really pleased about.

Obviously, we're all different but for me one of the things I need to stop doing is using special occasions as an excuse to overindulge and eat too much. It's something I get from my childhood where every little occasion was associated with food and eating out. It's a real trigger for me and definitely leads to me eating food, I don't need or even really want.

I just kept on as normal. Really, you have to change your mindset that eating is a priority activity for enjoyment. You can still eat, just in moderation and that’s how it should be really.

maxisback · 06/09/2025 08:57

I would, yes. But I do enjoy food in moderation anyway.

Pepperama · 06/09/2025 09:03

I don’t get massive suppression on any days so just continued as usual. If it made me totally stop eating I’d go down a dose

twilightcafe · 06/09/2025 09:05

Yes. Absolutely.
I wish I'd started on Mounjaro before my holiday

I'd still have enjoyed myself. Just eaten and drank less.

I carried on as normal before/during a 2 week holiday in Italy & had a fabulous time!
I gave myself 3 golden rules: swim lengths every day, no bread (which I never eat at home anyway) and nothing with sugar in. Otherwise I ate and drank in moderation according to how I felt. I had a glass or 2 of wine at lunch, and again in the evening.

I had a wonderful time and did not feel deprived, and no one else noticed.
When I came home I had no idea how I had done weight wise, much to my delight and surprise I lost weight on holiday.

I was away with work and holiday for 4 weeks in total and I carried on. I don’t have huge suppression but tried to pick sensible choices and I swam every day and did lengths of the pool. I also never drank alcohol at lunch time and saved that for the evening. I came back having lost 3lb! My target was to come back having not lost or put any on so I was delighted.

I used injections as normal. Had a fantastic holiday. Didn’t lose weight but didn’t gain anything abd was very active and ate lots more of the food I love

Jab as normal.

I missed a week. We were going to be on a yacht in 40+ degrees, with an unreliable fridge. It was fine. To be honest I didn’t have a huge appetite and was really off booze. A cold beer after a days sailing is a wonderful thing…. But no I didn’t fancy it.

xanthomelana · 06/09/2025 10:14

I’ve missed a week and it didn’t make much difference. I believe the drug stays in your system for a few weeks so that might explain why. I never bothered missing a week after that, seemed no point and I still enjoyed myself anyway.

I was planning to jab as normal but then just 2 days before leaving i started getting some bad side effects (like lots of acid and uncomfortable stomach). Still not sure what caused them. I was due to jab on the day we left and didn't eat anything out of the ordinary. So last-minute i decided not to jab.
Kind of glad I didn't kab. Yes, I ate more than normal but not by loads. But at least I was able to enjoy it without fear of bad side effects. Still have some mild side effects although i haven't jabbed in 2 weeks now. Most likely from overeating a bit.
My point is: do you normally have side effects? How will you handle if you do get them? Could they ruin your holiday?
