Allodynia (sensitive skin)

Has anyone experienced allodynia from being on mounjaro? I’ve been taking it for a while now and have never experienced until my last jab. It had worn off over the course of the week but have jabbed today and it’s come on again tonight, in the same place behind my left knee. It’s reported as a rare side effect but when I looked into it last week, there were various threads on Reddit and Tik Tok. It feels quite uncomfortable so am a bit bummed for this new side effect to rear its head.

Just eat well an exercise. For the love of God is quite simple

I had this - it only last a couple of weeks. But to be honest, I wasn’t sure if it was the MJ as I have had it in the past at various points too.

oceanaus · 06/09/2025 07:53

@Cocoaoneoh really, what do you think caused it in the past? I did have a nasty fall recently so I was also unsure if it could have been related to that and not the MJ

Just shut the door on your way out.

IsItSnowing · 06/09/2025 08:40

I haven't experienced this but it sounds unpleasant. I just wanted to offer my support to drown out the troll lol.

Gosh, really! My goodness, you are a genius. No-one has ever considered trying that before! You have just cured global obesity and diabetes, your Nobel prize is on its way to you as we speak.

More seriously, I guess thinking about it mine may have got a touch worse. I’ve never given it a name before or had it diagnosed but have always had incredibly sensitive skin. I have to cut out all tags and choose fabrics carefully ect, and I have a few tops I used to be able to wear but now can’t. But it’s something that comes and goes a bit so really hard to say if it’s the MJ or not.

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 06/09/2025 08:51

I have had it twice briefly (lasted a week or two) before I started mounjaro.

It felt like prickles under my skin if I accidentally brushed up against anything.

As it was on the same area of my tummy and I was very fat at the time I thought it was likely weight related.

Not recurred post mounjaro.

watchingplanesicantafford · 06/09/2025 08:51

I do but not every time and it where it happens switches around too. It's quite common I think and not a worry unless you have any sort of allergy symptoms too

oceanaus · 06/09/2025 09:00

I didn’t know it had an official name, I came across it from googling. It feels a bit like when you need to shave your legs and wear tight leggings and the hairs pull in the wrong direction 😂

I had sore skin for a couple of weeks (around second month of taking Mounjaro). It felt a bit like sunburn, but no heat or redness. It was on my face, and thighs.
It went after a while, and haven’t noticed it since.

Whereissummer24 · 06/09/2025 12:52

My god I have this! Randomly on the top of my foot the other week and then on my thigh. Didn’t have a clue what it was - so painful

Carzycat · 06/09/2025 22:10

I’ve got this on my sides. Am also on MJ but only 5mg - been on it since Feb. Mine started last week with onset of what has turned out to be COVID.

TheyCallMeStacey · 07/09/2025 07:18

I have had this from the beginning, now at week 20 and it has improved but still very much there on the top of my feet!
It can be pretty widespread, usually on my legs and back. I think I’ve got used to it so don’t notice too much. It hasn’t got worse, very odd sensation!

Vegemite123 · 08/09/2025 19:54

I've had this, too. Pretty constantly for maybe the first 5 months, gradually easing off, now at 10 months it has mostly gone.

gallivantsaregood · 08/09/2025 20:11

The past few weeks I've had a sensitive patch on my scalp. It went yesterday to be replaced by this very sensitive skin on my forearm. I jabbed yesterday morning. Where the scalp sensitivity hung around, my arm is back to normal this evening. Weird.
