Clicks confusion for following dose... please help.

Please can someone explain the calculation? I understand with my mounjaro kwikpen that we can divide the 60 clicks of a full dose into smaller required doses for whatever reason that might be. For me I wanted to up my 2.5mg dose a little as I was on my 2nd pen of 2.5mg and not getting any benefit or side effects.
So...i did my full normal 2.5mg dose in 1 thigh followed by a fresh prime and needle of just 20 clicks in the other thigh. A very small increment but enough to do the trick. It worked well for me.
My problem came the following week. I went to do my normal full dose but the pen only allowed me to turn 40 clicks and wouldn't reach the no.1 in the dial window. 40clicks... I.e the remaining clicks from the full 60 after I used 20 the week before.
So then I got completely lost and confused by the whole thing and ended up underdosing just 40clicks just to get my pen straight for the following week.

So how does everyone else do it? Where did I go wrong please? Thanks so much.

Sounds like when you did what you did last week you were taking your 3rd injection from
that pen? The pen is designed that you can get a maximum of 240 ‘clicks’ from it, so 4 doses at 60 clicks each. You won’t be able to get the remainder without drawing this out via a syringe.

If you wanted the same dose again you needed another 40 clicks on top of the first 40.
or you can just use a syringe to get the required dose out. Each dose is 0.6ml so you are doing a dose of 0.6ml + 1/3 which is 0.8 ml

The pen only allows 4 x 60 clicks in total so you needed to do the equivalent of another 40 clicks which is an extra 0.4ml if extracted with an insulin syringe (total dose of 80 clicks or 0.8ml).
I have no evidence for this but saw an American specialist doctor a while ago saying that, if you have to inject twice, try to inject them as close to the same place as possible. Her explanation was that we don't know if one larger dose absorbs the same as 2 smaller ones so we should always aim to mimic the one larger dose (hope that makes sense)

if you reverse the pen (I lost count of clicks so started again) do those clicks still count towards the total 240?

No, it’s only after you’ve actually plunged the pen. I was fearful of that when I first got my pen after I turned it all the way to 1, hesitated put it back down to zero and then to 1 again before I then realised I needed to prime it by a few clicks, so reversed it, primed it and then back to 1 and injected. Didn’t have any issues with the rest of the doses which were the full 60 clicks.
