Can I get a 2.5mg dose from a 5mg Mounjaro pen?

As the title says, is it possible to deliver a half dose from the 5mg pen? My DH normally does the priming and injects me, so I’m a bit clueless as to whether this is possible.
I’ve been responding really well on 2.5mg and happy to stay at this dose but bought myself a 5mg pen anticipating I’d need to go up a dose…
Has anyone else done this? Any advice gratefully appreciated!

Yes you count the clicks. I think it is 30 clicks but you need to check on one of the charts that are available on line.

Yes. Just count the number of clicks the pen makes when you twist it - to get a 2.5 dose from a 5 pen you need 30 clicks

This theory works regardless of pen strength and dose required….
Dose required divided by pen strength x 60 = clicks
2.5 divided by 5 x 60 =30 clicks

Just bear in mind pens should be discarded 30 days after you take the first dose.
I know lots do use them longer than this and I’m sure many more will with price increases, but it’s something to consider.

Does it last longer than the 4 doses doing this?

It doesn’t say that on my packaging @Snozzlemaid . Just something about it should be used within 30 days if not refrigerated? Happy to be properly informed!

@Nachoinseachthu this screenshot is from the paper instruction leaflet that comes with the pen. It shows the instructions for storage which includes the detail about discarding after 30 days. The relevant text is:

You may store your used pen at room temperature up to 30°C after your injection.
Keep away from heat.
Keep your pen and needles out of the sight and reach of children.
Dispose of the pen 30 days after first use.
Dispose of the pen after receiving 4 weekly doses.

I have used the same pen over 8 weeks. There are a few threads on this running at the moment.

As long as you use a fresh needle, wash your hands etc etc it's fine. In my opinion obviously, having done a fair bit of research.
