Anyone noticed changes to sense of smell?

My sense of smell is off the scale. Has always been good but it’s like being pregnant again.

I can’t tolerate certain smells (eg garlic) at all.

I did the first week, but pretty much back to normal after that.

Yes! I had a very poor sense of smell for years (pre covid) and since MJ it's been really good. A blessing to me!

Yes. My sense of smell is super sensitive!!

JBJ · 23/08/2025 12:50

Yes. I can’t stand the smell of tap water anymore and have had to buy a filter jug!

Not smell but I had a couple of weeks where coffee tasted completely different. I could taste all of the notes incredibly vividly.

Maybe it’s this but there’s a smell in my house I literally cannot bear and I can’t find what it is!

CatRash · 23/08/2025 18:51

Yes! I've always had a good sense of smell but it's definitely been heightened since starting WLI in December. I was the same in pregnancy too.

My taste is heightened too which has made me a bit fussier 😬

Oh that’s really interesting OP. I’ve developed an absolute aversion to the smell of garlic, but hadn’t made the connection with MJ. Weirdly not so much eating it, but the smell of it cooking - and the stale cooking smell after - or on someone who’s been eating it.

roshi42 · 23/08/2025 19:49

Omg, yes! Thank you for saying this… I keep thinking god, if I didn’t know I couldn’t be pregnant I’d think I was because the sudden whacks of smells are just the same. I hadn’t thought MJ at all! I was thinking my smell might be permanently changed as I was pregnant not that long ago. How weird!

Oh wow me too I could have written this

Yes I have heard of more people buying perfume on MJ. I did this one day and I never usually buy it.

Icebreakhell · 23/08/2025 22:24

It’s a relief to know it’s not just me. Was wondering if it was something else, but seems to not be that uncommon. Certain smells esp cooking ones are just hideous, almost overwhelming.

Yes, I find that can kind of combine with the food aversion at times making it worse.
