Looking for a prescriber for my 17 year old

My daughter has struggled with her weight for years, despite being relatively active and eating healthily with the rest of the family. A friend of hers had a great experience with wegovy for 6 months which helped her lose weight and reset her diet and exercise habits and hasn’t put the weight back on and my daughter has asked me if she can try it. However I’m finding it impossible to find anyone who will prescribe to under 18s so I’m wondering if her friend’s mother maybe played a system or something. Does anyone know if it’s possible to get for under 18s?

I don’t think it’s prescribed to those under 18. Are you sure she’s not eating extra in between meals and is as active as she says? For now I’d keep up the exercise and healthy eating and reassess when she is 18.

We had a video consultation with the Dr and she agreed to prescribe WLI medication. We’ve had weekly video consultations and in 3 weeks she has lost 13lbs. It has helped her to stick to a diet and really believe in herself that she can lose weight.

Wegovy is licensed for use in over 12s so you should be able to find someone who will prescribe it for her.
