Cheaper alternative to MJ sounds promising?!

I know everyone is currently freaking out about the new price increase of MJ coming into effect, but Voy have written an article about the benefits of switching to Wegovy (including price), which may offer some peace of mind. A higher dose of Wegovy (7.2mg) has been approved for use, which shows weight loss results almost as good as high dose MJ (20.7% compared to 22.5%). I’ll certainly be considering switching drugs if the cost of MJ becomes prohibitive. Might be worth giving it a try?!

Do they quote prices for wegovy at higher doses?

Will you be able to get it if your BMI is below prescribing levels but you’ve been on Mounjaro for a while? I think it’s unlikely that you will and that’s going to mean a lot of people will be cut off.

I’d be interested, if I can get it prescribed at my new lower bmi. I guess I’d have to speak to my pharmacy (currently with IQ) Though I’d also be concerned about side effects. I’ve been lucky on Mounjaro and not had any negative side effects.

Also bear in mind you have to start at the lowest dose of wegovy from what I have just read on Simple Pharmacy.

So that will be several months to get up to a potentially effective dose if you have been on a medium to high dose of mounjaro.

Unless you were planning to be taking wegovy for a pretty long time ( ie you are not far into your weight loss when changing over) it might be more cost effective to stick with mounjaro if you possibly can even at the increased new prices.

@Mrsmunchofmunchington Voy have stated that you won’t necessarily have to start Wegovy at the lowest dose if you’ve been on MJ already! They’re going to review it on a case by case basis. I’ll stay on MJ if it’s not too extortionate, but there’s a cutoff point.

@ChungkingDreamer Voy have stayed that you can easily switch over if you’re currently a patient of theirs. Not sure about new patients though?

@Mrsmunchofmunchington looks like they’re similar, albeit slightly cheaper, than current MJ prices.

Even with a BMI of 26? That would be good news. I probably won’t need to because I’m not too far from a healthy weight and my next pen will be arriving tomorrow, and I can probably afford to continue with the new price hike as interested down, if I need to, but I’m worried about others who might find it harder!

Chequp stating similar, I filled in the preliminary, rejected, possibly because of low bmi, but I was wanting for maintenance, might look to chemist 4u as they were the supplier I last went with,or maybe just stick with low carb and IF and hope for the best now, feel for folks only just starting, I couldn't have lost this far without it. But I have overhauled how I eat considerably, I know I can't eat or drink anything that will cause blood sugar to spike as that's what causes me to eat more and more, and gain weight so it's bye to all alcohol, refined carbs, etc. It has to be for life now as well, there's plenty of people on my weight loss boards still saying, I m going to miss my jab so I can drink, or eat a Chinese or something or have a cheat day, for me I can't do any of those things at all any more it's what got me to 12 stone in the first place and I ain't going back.
