Hyperemesis and Mounjaro

Has anyone who had severe sickness throughout pregnancy been able to have WLI with no/minimal nausea? It’s the only thing stopping me from giving it a go. I would hate to feel that sick again all day, or be vomiting. Mild nausea would be fine.

It’s impossible to tell what your symptoms will be everyone has different or no symptoms. I couldn’t take it due to constant sulphur burps and diarrhoea for example

Wegovy made me feel really sick and I was a couple of times - it didn’t work as I comfort ate to sooth sickness!

just started monjaro and no sickness at all

I had HG in both my pregnancies. Been on Mounjaro since feb with zero nausea or sickness, no bad side effects at all luckily,

Thanks, everyone - really interesting. I guess I assumed severe nausea would be a given if I had hyperemesis. I once read a celebrity said they couldn’t go on WLI as they had hyperemesis in pregnancy. I was sure it was either Meghan Trainor or Rebel Wilson, but a quick Google shows they’ve both used injections so god knows.

As PP said - there’s no way of knowing until you try, I guess.

  1. dont take medical advice from celebrities

  2. you can get good anti nausea medication now

I was hospitalised for about 60% of my first pregnancy, still vomiting in labour. I was offered a termination more than once it was so bad, very minimal side effects from munjaro or ozempic.

KateWithTheGoodHair · 09/08/2025 13:52

Thanks, @lunar1 - this is how bad I was too. Great to know you’re getting on so well with it.

I had bad 24/7 'morning' sickness throughout my third pregnancy. The full 9 months. It stopped within 30 minutes of DD being born.
Although I have had a few episodes of nausea on MJ, it has been bearable and short lived. Usually occurring the first week after I move up a dose.
I had one really bad episode after I drank more than a couple of glasses of wine. It was a lovely long family party and I thought as long as I spaced out my alcohol intake it would be fine. It was not! However I wasn't actually sick, just severe nausea.

Searingtheserum · 09/08/2025 15:33

Have had nausea, interspersed with bouts of vomiting and diarrhoea, don't know any one who hasn't suffered at least one bout on it, but 3.5 stone down and Bmi 20 all worth it.

I started Mounjaro 3 weeks ago, little bit of a runny belly and then little bit of constipation. Nothing awful though. Have lost 10lb.

CloudyYellow · 13/08/2025 18:24

I had dreadful nausea on lower dose with Ozempic and Wegovy. Mild nausea with MJ. Second pregnancy was sickness for 9 months

purplemonkeypancake · 13/08/2025 20:30

I had hyperemesis in pregnancy and have only experienced mild nausea on mounjaro and no vomiting. It has been completely manageable for me. I haven’t had to move beyond 2.5ml so not sure how I’d be on a higher dose.

CatsorDogsrule · 13/08/2025 20:36

HG throughout entirety of my 3 pregnancies. Very prone to motion sickness still (riding in a lift or on an escalator even affects me).

I've never had nausea on MJ. 13 months on it so far, I've reached target with 100lb lost and in maintenance. BMI 38 to 20.5.

Good luck if you decide to go ahead.
