On holiday, what to do?

It's injection day. I travelled with a new pen in a cool case from Amazon, although the frozen bits had melted when we arrived. Pen straight in fridge. We are half board. Im feel really tired, despite relaxing days and a bit low. Im feeling a bit scared to inject today. ive eaten more than usual and no doubt will have put on weight. ive not gone mad though. Not sure what to do? i did look up skipping it all together but I might regret. I've only brought one needle too. Any suggestions?

Sorry you’re not feeling great. I think sometimes when I arrive on holiday all the stress I’ve been holding in just comes out and I have a few exhausted days. If you don’t have kids and can allow yourself just to chill out that’s definitely what I’d do (I have four kids so unfortunately holidays are not at all relaxing!!)

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t do your injection as normal? I’ve just come back from a two week break and injected twice while I was away. I did put on a bit of weight but that’s ok - I knew I would and now I’m home I’m back to healthy eating and focussing on getting the last of the weight off. It won’t hurt if you skip a week but if I were you I’d take the injection as normal and then try to work out why I was feeling low and what could I use that isn’t food to fill that gap… could you have a day on your own reading by the pool or a massage / spa treatment or whatever you love to do on holiday…

Zempy · 09/08/2025 08:35

I’m not sure why you wouldn’t inject. You took the pen so you obviously intended to…

popdepop · 09/08/2025 08:57

Thanks both. It's the exhaustion and feeling a bit low, plus have eaten more so dont want to get duahorreah or feel worse! ok, I think your replies are what I needed. I'll pull myself together and inject. Ive been for a few meals and eaten very little. Breakfast this morning I had 3 slices of melon, couldn't eat anymore. But some dinners ive had pasta. I dont want to ruin anything. Maybe the increase of food generally is making me feel sluggish. Ive lost 3 stone but another 4 to go.. still a 14/16. Maybe carrying excess weight in the heat not helping either. ill take your advice and relax/chill and hope i get some energy back

If it helps I don’t get any side effects if I’ve eaten more in the days before I inject. I think there’s a good chance you will be absolutely fine. This journey is an emotional roller coaster and I 100% understand the fear around it all going wrong. I think in a way you’ll feel better once you’ve injected and you don’t have to worry about it anymore. Enjoy the rest of your holiday xx

OneCoralCat · 09/08/2025 09:02

I’d definitely inject. I went on a hen do last weekend and ate far more than I have the whole time I’ve been on MJ. Thought I’d come back and not be able to get back into the swing of things, but I was absolutely fine. The injection might not stop you splurging at all on holiday, but it will definitely reduce what you eat to some extent, I’d say go for it x

I can relax as only have the 1 moody teenager who is old enough to do his own thing!

I took my injection when I went away. Went to Italy, ate pizza and pasta in small amounts. Lost 5lbs which I put down to a lot of walking!
Similarly Greece, ate sensibly and stayed the same...was a lazy beach holiday.

popdepop · 09/08/2025 09:07

that's amazing @Titasaducksarse at the moment im too tired/sluggish to walk. We are only 2 hr time difference and day 4. It has definitely stopped me over indulging. To the extent the waiters asking if all ok as I can't finish meals whereas DS is on plate 3. But, ive also eaten a lot more than usual. ive brought gym gear and might try that for a steady walk as air conditioned. Then hope I feel better to get out and about

I would continue as normal and try to up your protein intake. If I eat too many carbs I feel sluggish and therefore low.

popdepop · 09/08/2025 09:12

ok @SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease ill try that. I thought sone carbs would give me some energy ha im upping my water too.

I was away and missed a week & put on 4 kg in a fortnight!!
However am back on it now & didn’t want to not drink etc on hols. Hope you feel better soon.

Twelftytwo · 09/08/2025 09:24

Generally I agree with carrying on with MJ as normal on holiday.
I am pretty much maintaining now though (although not been able to titrate down much), I'm going away next week and am probably going to inject but at a lower dose. Am on 10mg and was thinking probably 7.5 or even 5.

It's an all inclusive type situation and as much as I'd love not to, I know I can still be a bit of a dick around food so am likely to want 3 proper meals a day plus drink, and don't want to spend the whole time feeling ill

popdepop · 09/08/2025 09:25

ok, I've injected. I primed first then noticed an air bubble after id injected. Still moved to the first marker so hope ok! I feel bloated and feel ive put on.. but im going to try to reinforce it back and up protein, have salads, no carbs and walk for a bit on the treadmill

Don't have the OJ...about the worst thing you can have for spiking insulin. Better off trying a small omelette or eggs ie a protein. Or some Greek yoghurt for example
I would have an egg, maybe little cheese and some nuts or an apple with a little peanut butter. Bit random but fuelled me.

It's probably the heat and possibly the post stress of packing and travelling etc I always find I'm tired in hot weather. Drink more water in case of dehydration as mounjaro does dehydrate too, so with the heat you probably need more fluids than usual, especially with drinking alcohol.

popdepop · 10/08/2025 13:49

Thanks to all who have replied.. MJ kicked in straight away yesterday and I had chicken and salad last night. This morning I had boiled egg and a small piece of cheese and melon. Im feeling a little better. I made the gym but could only go gently and have upped water. Im staying out of the sun today. I hate carrying this extra weight around, its do uncomfortable on holiday.

I’m glad you feel a bit better today. I’m hoping my last overnight and uncomfortable holiday is behind me.
