So I took 5th dose of 2.5 on Friday. We took kids out yesterday and had Pizza Hut. I had two slices and salad. I was tortured all night with indigestion and today thenSulphur burps are horrific. I’ve taken a Nexium and loads of water to no avail.

this would put me off if there was no cure. Any advice please?

Pepto Bismol is best for this

sandwichsue · 03/08/2025 21:09

Does anyone know was it because I ate too much the day before or is this going to be it from now on?

What did you eat? A lot of MJ users have found that greasy/high calorie foods (and some types of
vegetables!) are the main culprit and it’s the type of food rather than the volume.

I’ve been on MJ for over a year (in maintenance for 6 months) and only had sulphur burps from stuffed crust pizza (at a party) and fizzy booze (wine the worst but cider too).

Hope it resolves rapidly for you - MJ has been amazing for me, it’s taken about 15 years off me in terms of energy and mobility.

I really suffered after 2 slices of dominoes Italian crust veggie supreme pizza. Haven't touched pizza since and all was fine after 48 hours

Not on weight loss but suffer from indigestion/heartburn and water makes it worse for me.

FlowersFawb · 03/08/2025 21:19

I had them once on 5mg after a sausage caserole lol and they passed after a day. I'm now 6 months in and on 12.5mg and not really had them again...I've avoided sausages since...it will pass. X

Sorry OP but you have learned that you can't eat pizza the day after you inject. It is because the food is sitting in your gut for longer because of the slowed gastric emptying caused by the drug. It will pass.

Longer term a probiotic with digestive enzymes is very helpful.

Peppermint tea helps. But it’s all part of finding what foods agree/dont agree with you I’m afraid.

You ate pizza on Mounjaro! Are you nuts?

The main way you lose weight at the lower doses is that you have to radically change your diet to avoid the side effects. Which basically means no fat and definitely no cheesy pizza.

Now I walk through the supermarket going 'Can't eat that, it makes me ill. Or that. Or that'

It's like aversion therapy.

While fat can cause stomach upset and side effects, I would personally say that the main way to lose weight is to cut out the carbs. I’d completely agree that this is an opportunity to sort out diet completely though. So no pizza is a good start, for sure!

Thank you all.

Ive completely overhauled my eating hence the stone in lost weight since I started 5 weeks ago. However we took the kids on a day out and I thought I’d be fine as a one off. I see now that’s not the case. Thank you all so much for your advice.

I haven't cut out carbs and it's not hampered my weight loss - I just keep them within my daily calories allowance.

You can probably eat pizza if you're just careful about when and how much.

Everyone’s experience is different. I’ve been on it since the beginning of April and I can eat whatever I want with very little in the way of side effects. I would be absolutely fine after 2 slices of pizza - I don’t think it’s crazy to eat the same as everyone else on a special occasion meal out. I’ve lost weight by being in a calorie deficit which could theoretically be achieved by eating one meal of pizza a day if I wanted (although obviously would not recommend).

OP, it does sound like the pizza probably did it for you and maybe needs to be avoided especially so close to jab day but I think it really is case of trial and error to see what your body can tolerate.

ChaChaChooey · 04/08/2025 21:45

I’ve found an ordinary thin crust pizza from
a supermarket is fine (I like the Aldi vegetable ones from the freezer best, only need half at a time) but a thick, super cheesy stuffed crust or deep pan from Pizza Hut/Dominoes is a no go, even a slice or two will leave me queasy ;especially if I try and wash it down with a fizzy wine 😆)

Sounds like you are doing really well with weight loss so far (and will continue to do well once the pizza burps have subsided).

sandwichsue · 05/08/2025 10:03

Thanks everyone for the advice. Burps still here but sulphur has gone and they aren’t as bad thank god! I will never ever do that again.
