Mounjaro Bum - has your bum disappeared?

I lost weight last year with MJ, came of it for personal reasons and started again 6 weeks ago. I have lost a total of 18kg, down to 10st 5lb, really happy with the weightloss and only a few more KGs to hit my target. But then.......

Yesterday I was getting changed after work and caught a glimpse of my derriere in the mirror and thought I had something stuck to it, under my bum cheek looked like a black line. On closer inspection I don't have much bum left all of a sudden. I've not done much exercising but make sure I get 10K ish steps in a day and i've been eating protein - not huge amounts but a decent portion. I had quite a nice bum before but now I feel like i need to go home and do 100 squats and lunges to build it back up

Has anyone else experienced this?

Another baggy bum here. But I have also lost - not as much as I would have liked to- from bust and waist. So lots of squats are in my future and overall I am so much happier and can exercise so much more easily it is worth it.

I’ve always had a flat arse , all my weight is in my belly area

me too, made buying trousers a nightmare because they were either really baggy around my arse but did up, or fit round the bum but didn’t do up. Now I have no bum and a little waist so it works a bit better, although a more shapely derrière would be a delight.

Bum gone but belly still there.

Interesting to read the reflections on where fat has gone from compared to previous weight loss. I happen to have my body measurements from 10-15 years ago and my thighs now are a full 10cm smaller than they were at my smallest in my late twenties at a similar weight, whereas my other measurements are much the same. My primary cardio is a Peloton but I don't think that can account for all of it. I have lost weight (and a lot of it) pretty evenly on MJ but for some reason it has targeted my thighs in a way that no previous diet or weight loss has.

Make sure that any heavy lifting is combined with pelvic floor exercises, done every day with absolutely religious discipline. Anyone who has been obese for a long time is at higher risk of pelvic organ prolapse, especially if you have been pregnant, had an instrumental birth or birth injuries, or if you are post-menopausal. Heavy lifting with a weak pelvic floor will hasten along a prolapse and squats are some of the worst culprits. Ask me how I found out 🤦‍♀️.

Thank you for the warning, I have suffered all of those!

I’ve just pulled up my measurements, the earliest I can find were from 2020, and then the latest were in June this year.

I know it's more money to find on top of the cost of the jabs but if you possibly can I'd highly recommend seeing a specialist physio for a pelvic health check. Mine not only diagnosed my prolapse and gave me specific exercises which have largely reversed my symptoms but also diagnosed an unhealed diastasis recti. My youngest child is eight...

I haven’t lost weight horribly quickly but my arse has still disappeared. I have been thinner than this before, and lost weight more quickly, but never ended up with a flat bum like I have now. It’s very odd.

Trousers are a nightmare as my hips are size 8/10 and my waist size 10/12.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 31/07/2025 20:18

Nope. My bum is always the first place I gain weight and last place I lose it! Very annoying.

all my loss so far has been belly and back.

I have no arse now, it’s horrible looking 😂 all flat and wobbly. I can’t do squats either as my knees aren’t good.

any suggestions apart from squats ?

Lunges. Start slow, use a chair for balance and really focus on perfect form. Go slowly aiming for good range of motion. It will be uncomfortable and your knees may make all sorts of noises but keep going. Aim to start with four lots of five on each side. As your knees supporting muscles get stronger, add weight, and squat and lunge variations. If your knees are having a bad day drop the weights and focus on movement and mobility.

Its not a quick fix and will take months but your knees didn’t fail overnight so the cure won’t be overnight.

I have arthritis in both knees and can lunge with 2 x 10kg and easily go up and down stairs. Ten years ago I was in conversations with the doctor about new knees as stairs were becoming difficult and my knees were a problem. Exercise is a drug, it just takes some time to get the effects.

It did.
Shockingly fast too.
Obviously my lack of glute muscles were hidden under giant amounts of fat.
I've since been doing targeted exercises and it has improved somewhat.

Yes hello, me. I’ve lost a stone quite quickly and went oooh I look quite good actually! …and then I turned around.

just tried to do a Bulgarian split squat and I think I might just live in loose trousers instead.
