3 stone to loose - how long will it take to come off

I have been approved mounjaro and will be starting at the weekend. For those who only had 3 to 4 stone to loose, how long did it take you?
I don't want to loose too much too quickly as I worry it would be to easy to put back on!

Sensible rate for any weight loss is 1-2lb a week. So you should be aiming for 7 months minimum to lose 4 stone.

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/07/2025 22:16

I average at 1.6lb per week. Some weeks it’s a bit more, some it’s less, some it’s a gain but it steadily ticked down. Speed of loss has slowed down as I’ve gotten closer to goal weight because there’s less to lose and because the amount of calories you need each day just to exist reduces the smaller you get and the less excess you are having to lug around.

Ive added a picture of my spreadsheet showing the week by week in case it’s helpful to you.

I have lost approximately 1kg a week over 10 weeks. Definitely about right for me .
Am taking 5mg and only increased from 2.5 at 8 weeks.

purpleflowersfordays · 29/07/2025 22:42

I’ve just hit a three stone loss and it’s taken me 7 months. I was going to stop at three stone but realistically I will probably aim for another 0.5-1 stone and then be done.

Evertonball · 29/07/2025 23:02

3 stone in 4 months, very very , strict diet though. Realistically it would probably take longer if not. It's still a slog even on mj but a doable one.

myladyjane · 29/07/2025 23:15

I lost 3 stone in just over 6 months.

GiveMeWordGames · 30/07/2025 08:22

Three stone, give or take a pound, in 18 weeks.

Goinghome25 · 30/07/2025 10:10

8 months in and I am 3lbs off a 3 stone loss

Oooh, I like your spreadsheet! Mine doesn't look anywhere near as fancy as that. I need to do some conditional formatting on the cell colours. Thanks for the ideas!

HappyWineDay · 30/07/2025 10:21

Interesting that around 2lb a week is very typical, and it's also regarded as a healthy rate at which to lose after the first initial few weeks. (And that's not intended as any criticism of those who have been losing more quickly 👍).
I seem to be losing at around that average too.

PlioTalk · 30/07/2025 10:35

I had 4st to lose when I restarted MJ three months ago - I'm 5'3", perimenopausal, and my starting weight was 13st 12lbs.

I move up to 7.5mg next week and I currently weigh 12st 4lbs. I also do 20:4 intermittent fasting and a keto diet - my GP is very supportive and is happy that I'm losing weight at a healthy pace.

Don't be disheartened if you don't see miraculous losses when you first start on MJ, it's completely normal!

Radioundermypillow · 30/07/2025 10:39

I would be happy to take a year to lose 3 stone personally. I couldn't do it without Wegovy so I'm happy with a small but steady loss every week.

Newmum110 · 30/07/2025 19:41

16 weeks tomorrow & I'm going to hit a 3 stone weight loss. Started at 14.12 now 11.12 hopefully will lose another 1.5 stone to bring me to 10.5 but I imagine that will take longer than the first 3 stone.

Booksandcheese · 30/07/2025 22:21

Thank you all for the replies. Very nervous about starting but I've tried every diet going over the years, here's hoping this will work and the weight will stay off this time.

It took me 5 months to hit 3st loss. I went from 12st 2 at the end of Jan to 9st 2 at the end of June. I am now 8st 13 and aiming for 8st 7. I have had many weeks of no or very small losses throughout that time so it all really does add up and averages out in the end.

It has been life changing for me. I have never been able to get lower than 11st 7 and even that was unsustainable for me. I can’t get my head around now being 8st something and walking around looking like a normal slim person 🤯 And to not be stuck in a binging cycle and think about food 24/7 is just amazing.
