For anyone debating taking their Mounjaro on holiday

I have - I'm 9 days into a 3 week AI holiday and jabbed on Sunday whilst here.

I bought a little case for it from Amazon with freezer packs and sailed through check in etc.

I've had a couple of drinks a night (except the night before I jabbed when I stayed on water) and have mainly been eating grilled meat and salads as that's what I've fancied. With melon etc for pudding.

I've found 1 plate more than enough whereas I'd usually go back at least twice before pudding on an AI.

Fab! Am flying on Friday and am panicking about proof of prescription and being pulled aside at security....
Also taking my supplements and am sure will get pulled for those too.

Thanks for the reassuring post @Mathsdebator. Did you take the needles in your hand luggage with the pen?

HappyKatieA · 23/07/2025 18:18

Thank you for this @MathsdebatorI don’t have an Ice Pack, but I have a hard plastic case I purchased from Etsy. I don’t have the original box either, I threw it away (as try to hide it from my teens), but I have printed my prescription off and have it on my phone if needed. I’m hoping it will be ok for the couple of hours travel to the hotel…

I went away for two weeks and took my (already opened) jab just in the box, needles in my hold luggage. Wasn’t even questioned. I also lost 3.5! Defo worth still jabbing on holiday, I’m so glad I did! Enjoyed myself with damage limitation

Yes - I just put everything in the case thing from Amazon. Even spare needles for the extra dose as I was at the end of 1 pen

I cut the label with my name etc on from the front of the boxes and put them in too but didn't get stopped at all (my family joke because I nearly always get security checked too!)

Kept everything together in a special case from Amazon. Had frozen ice blocks, needles, copy of letter from provider to GP and original packaging folded up in outer pocket. Put it in my carry on handbag and didn’t take it out separately at security. No issues at Heathrow yesterday or entering USA.

I just arrived home from a two week holiday. Jabbed once whilst I was away and then immediately on return. No problems getting through security - I did the same as the op.

First time I haven't put on weight on holiday!

Just a quick update - coming back from Egypt was fine too. 3 weeks in All Inclusive and I'm 6lb down!
