Anyone else struggling to lose on WLI?

I was on ozempic. lost just over 1 stone over 6 months which felt very slow, but I was having really bad side effects so I switched to Monjaro. Side effects are MUCH better on MJ but I am still losing barely any weight.
I am definitely in a calorie deficit, I am prioritising protein and fibre. My apatite is suppressed and my sugar intake is massively down but still the weight isn't shifting. I am drinking 2-3 litres of water a day. i've reduced my carb intake.

I really don't know what to do next. I still have around 5 stone to lose.

My bmi is still 40, it was 43.3

I have an office job and very busy family life so exercise is minimal but I do get my steps in every day.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

How long have you been taking Monjaro?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 18/07/2025 13:37

It sounds like you need to see your GP for thyroid function tests.

Redlightbulb · 18/07/2025 13:49

Yes I second going to the docs.
At your BMI, in a definite calorie deficit long term you should be losing more weight than that (that’s if you are losing less than a pound a week)

This, definitely something going on here

I've been on monjaro for 2 months now and have lost about 4 lbs.

I spoke to my GP and he won't do bloods until I have been unable to lose weight for 6 months! I am keeping a food/exercise diary so I can present this to him as well. I am logging my food on MFP and am always within my calorie deficit.

I feel better in myself because I am nourishing my body with good food and I was having terrible problems with sleep which have definitely improved so I am enjoying those wins. I would just like some return for my effort in my appearance. Its quite disheartening at times. But I also very grateful for MJ and the normal eating habits that I am able to maintain on it.

What is your calorie deficit and what have you used to calculate it? Are you logging exercise as sedentary? Are you subtracting 500 for your deficit? Are you tracking your food and including alcohol and other drinks etc? Sorry I don't mean to ask simple questions but many have something incorrect or been told something different and have the wrong deficit target so it's worth checking the figures, especially after your stone+ loss.

As a prediabetic, I still lose consistently over 9 months average 1lb a week but I'm losing more on the higher doses and at normal bmi due to low carb and high protein. I lost 5.5lbs last month at bmi 24.8, I do track everything and I'm strict with my calories usually having less than my deficit. I also have an office job and have lost over 3 stones with diet alone.
Also do you need to go up a dose?

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 18/07/2025 22:36

What dose are you on? Some people need to get to the higher doses before the weight starts moving.

I lost quite a bit in the first two months on Mounjaro and then plateaued for a few months.
In the last 5 weeks I’ve dropped another 10 kgs, I’m glad I stuck it out and hope it continues going down as I have another 3 1/2 stone to lose!
