Why is swallowing tablets so much harder now?

I take about 10 tablets each night (supplements/vitamins). I never used to have any issue swallowing them but it’s such hard work now! I think I’m going to have to spread them out during the day.

Is this another weird WLI thing?

I thought I was the only one. I used to find swallowing tablets so easy and now it's the opposite, 80% time I often get stuck in my throat and almost choke and spit it out. It's always worse first 4-5 days when I have high suppression. I think its because I'm feeling fuller and something linked with that??

Oh my god me too!

same, gagged on a paracetamol like my mind/body was rejecting as full?

Whitehorses67 · 16/07/2025 04:35

I have always struggled with swallowing tablets pre mounjaro (so not related) and I have to take a good few daily.
I find taking them with a small mouthful of food is the only way.
Might or might not help if suppression is the issue but worth trying.
Something like yoghurt is good.

OK, good to know it’s not just me!

Oh my god!! I hadn’t even linked it to Mounjaro!! I’ve always been (☺️) a ‘super swallower’ and could easily chuck in a handful of tablets at a time, no issues!

I’m now unable to swallow even one paracetamol without seriously gagging!

Pity I don’t have the same gag reflex when it comes to bread though! 🤦‍♀️😬

Yess!
I rarely take tablets but thought the same the last few times I have.
It is worse the first few days after injecting when the good side effects of the jab are high.

PearlsPearl · 16/07/2025 10:52

I thought this was just me too!

I hate taking meds anyway but have to take 4 a day in the evening and struggling massively. I can't glug water like I used to in order to help them go down either. It's been making me miserable.

I've switched 1 to the morning which is easier but the other 3 have to be taken in the evening.

I wonder if there is less saliva being produced, as hunger always makes me salivate more

ManchesterMarie · 16/07/2025 17:48

Oh god I’m the same! I’ve also struggled to swallow food. Wondered if it was another MJ oddity!
