Hi all
been on and off MJ since Sept last year and managed to lose 2 stone. I’m currently on 5mg but haven’t taken it for 10 days. I definitely could be putting more effort in as i have alot to lose but i find it hard with work and my children are intense 😂 one 3 year old and an older one with autism so life is full on.
i’m now wondering what to next, i defo need to get back on it as i’ve eaten crap all
week and can tell i’ve put weight on. I feel like 5mg hasn’t really worked for me But i’m wary about going upto 7.5mg, i don’t want to rush through the doses and also worried about side effects. I’m also worried about doing 7.5 when i’ve not done a 5mg for 10 days.
has anyone got any advice on what to do, i’m not sure whether to do
another week at 5mg and really try and then move upto 7.5? Has anyone found 5mg hasn’t worked and had success with 7.5? I lost most of my weight on 2.5 but found that defo wore off after a while.
thank you

Have you done 5mg for at least 4 weeks? I would do that, on a regular weekly schedule, and see how you are doing with weight loss and side effects compared to suppression before going up to 7.5mg.

Whatever dose you take, I'd suggest sticking to the weekly schedule.

Yes I’m definitely not helping myself by not sticking to the schedule. I’ve got myself in a vicious circle because the 5mg hasn’t worked for me i’m eating junk food then not wanting to jab because i know i’ve eaten crap and worried about side effects, so i say to myself i’ll eat healthy tomorrow and give my body chance to digest the junk food then do the jab but then i carry on eating junk food.
i think i need to take the jab and face any side effects because i can’t get out of the cycle otherwise.
its made me realise i also need to work on my head and my relationship with food.

edited to add i have been on 5mg about 6 weeks now but haven’t religiously jabbed every 7 days so again i’m not helping myself.

I agree that you just need to inject weekly and not use eating "bad" food as a reason not to inject. On your current 5mg pen, how many injections do you have left? Maybe finish that pen, and then move to 7.5mg. But get into the habit of injecting the same time and day each week, set an alarm on your phone maybe or similar.

Injecting regularly gives the medication the chance to build in your system, and should help you resist the overeating and junk food. If it doesn't, then that's when you move up a dose.

blunderdul · 11/07/2025 12:07

Perhaps it isn’t for you; if you are struggling to do a small injection once a week you need to dig deep and find out why.

SilenceInside · 11/07/2025 12:11

@Bunny2607 I have two children, the youngest is autistic, so I do understand the issues around managing to find time and the mental energy for yourself when everyone else has lots going on. But the injection needs to become a habit, where you don't think about whether you're going to inject, or what dose. You just do the next dose, because it's your medication. Just like I take my BP medication daily, whatever is happening.

Foreverm0re · 11/07/2025 14:12

Why do you keep stopping and starting? It doesn’t really sound like this is going to work for you.

Winter2020 · 11/07/2025 14:41

I turned to Mounjaro for similar reasons. I work night shifts and have an autistic child and don't have the mental energy for traditional dieting. But the jab can't help you if you don't take it.

Mounjaro builds in your system so on week 2 and week 3 or 5mg you will have more medicine in your system than week 1.

I definitely wouldn't go straight to 7.5 as you risk awful side effects if you are not used to taking the drug regularly.

Despite Mounjaro you do need to be in the headspace to do some planning of your meals. You will still get hungry and you still need to fuel and nourish your body. If you have no proper food planned or prepared you will turn to low nutrient foods like toast/snacks etc and over time could become malnourished.

Prioritise protein and foods rich in nutrients. I have found I spend a bit more on Sandwich meats, Protein yogurts and fruits but save on empty calorie junk snacks.

You don't need a dose of mounjaro to kill your appetite completely/make you feel sick, you just need it to give you a helping hand in sticking to your delicious calorie controlled diet.

Maybe you are too focused on not eating and then going off the rails. Nothing wrong with 3 meals, 2 snacks if most of it is nutritious and calorie controlled. Allow yourself the odd "treat" maybe 200 cals each day for Crisps or choc in the evening if you need it.

Winter2020 · 11/07/2025 14:44

I just want to add aside from Mounjaro do your best with sleep/stress and exercise. I know this is not easy but if you are very stressed or very tired I think that can over-ride the Mounjaro. Exercise keeps your head in a good place even if it is a walk in nature once each week.

I also think being ill/recovering from illness or being pre-menstrual can over ride the Mounjaro so cut yourself some slack at these times.

Download the shotsy app, it tells you what date and time you last jabbed, which area of body and when next one is due. Also can track weight. Stick with the free version.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and advice. And the comment that got deleted @Fortiesmum i didn’t see but no doubt it was slagging me off or having a go - people are quick to judge and be unkind on this site.

i’ve taken my last 5mg dose today, used the golden dose, i’ve got another new 5mg pen in the fridge so i’m going to try get myself back into it and use that as 5mg and try focus myself.

I’ve don exactly the same @Bunny2607

I’m taking my last golden dose today from a 5mg pen. Day 8. Didn’t take any of them on day 7! Doing another 5mg every Saturday from now then going out to 7.5mg

I’ve not been well for 8 weeks now and just kept forgetting procrastinating.

you are not alone

@Bunny2607 don't worry about the deleted post, it was someone who was spamming their discount code link over multiple threads.
