7x 10mg doses from 15mg pen.

I know this isn't recommended, but I am happy to use pen after the 4 weeks (kept in fridge) but I am currently on 10mg and plan on staying here for the last stone left to lose.

Has anyone bought a 15mg pen, and then used it 7 times at 10mg each dose (using syringes for the last few doses)

This would save me a considerable amount of money. It wouldn't be the full seven weeks as I would likely inject every 6 days.

So, my question is has anyone used the same pen for approx 6 weeks?

I’m doing 8x 2.5 from a 5 pen. People will shoot you down but do you own thing. I know many people that are doing the same :)

I haven't done this but wouldn't your supplier notice if you didn't order each month? Or if you are moving suppliers each month you have to provide a picture of your last prescription and it would presumably be quite a long time ago? It certainly sounds like a way to save some money although the pens aren't tested at being open for more than 30 days so there's a risk factor in that

I used a 5mg for 8 weeks with no issues at all. I kept it in the fridge and used wipes on needle before and after.

How do you get the remaining amount from the pen, mine doesn’t let you wind up after the 4 doses

Back in April 2024 I took the bonus dose (using an insulin syringe @JudeGarret) 42 days after starting to use the pen. This was before the 30 day limit was added to the patient information leaflet. It still worked just fine.

You keep ordering, build up a small stash and then eventually if ready to come off it stop ordering and use up your stash.

Risky if you find coming off doesn't work for you and you want to go back on with a healthy BMI and no recent prescribing history. Especially now with pharmacy guidelines being tightened up.

I use mine for 6 doses kept in the fridge, with 6th dose on day 35. I think 5 days is a very small extension and therefore low risk, I personally wouldn't go further beyond that without direct approval from my provider or a Dr. It is not something I would decide to do based on advice from social media.

I assume that was a typo and you mean the red seal? You use a new sterile needle each time so no need to wipe?
