If I pop it in my bag with 2 needles, will I need to take it out in security and separate it from my other hand luggage? Will I need to state I have a needle? Will the liquid be noted? I am so nervous because I am travelling with a big group, none of whom know I am on this and it would be humiliating if I had to go in the “check” pile and they pulled it out of my bag in front of all my family 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

They probably won't worry about it as they'll know what it is when it shows up on the scanner. But even if they do, when they pull you to one side for a check they don't let all your group crowd round you anyway. And people get the check for all kinds of reasons.
I take a few meds with me and I always take the original box with the prescription label on it. But I don't keep my meds in them, I flatten them and put them in the front pocket of my bag. That way I can easily show them if asked but I've never been asked.

I'm sure it will be fine. I used to have to take a different medication with needles, and I was never stopped, despite travelling quite frequently at the time

I doubt your family will bat an eyelid even if the worst does happen. Surely, they want you to be happier and healthier?

PerditionCatchMySoul · 08/07/2025 10:25

I’m thinking of putting my needles in my suitcase in the hold and then carrying the pen in carry on luggage…. I just think they may stop me for sharps…

I wasn’t going to bother taking it, but I jab on Wednesday- the day we leave and don’t get back until the following Saturday….

or maybe it will be a good test to see how I do jabbing 4 days late?!

Just jab 4 days late. Yes they could stop you for sharps, yes they could quiz you for what it is infront of your family. Sounds stressful, just take it late.

farfallarocks · 08/07/2025 10:35

I travel frequently with my son’s meds which are in a cold bag plus needles and never been stopped anywhere including in remote locations.

blunderdul · 08/07/2025 10:53

I would just take it late when you get back and they removed any stress at the airport

ShrankLastWinter · 08/07/2025 12:12

I’ve never been stopped anywhere for the syringe etc. Like a pp, I travel all over with mine.

And if they do check your bag, it’s actually pretty discreet because there usually isn’t room for whole family to stand around with their nosey noses.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 08/07/2025 13:58

I have flown about 8 times with MJ through Gatwick, Heathrow, Dalaman, Dubai, Bali…

I keep the pen, needles and syringes in my handbag. Nobody has paid any attention to it at all other than a security person at the gate in Dalaman who opened the cool wallet and asked if it was medication.

MeridaBrave · 08/07/2025 20:29

Why not just take it before you leave or after you arrive?

PerditionCatchMySoul · 08/07/2025 22:35

Well yes I’ll take the dose tomorrow before I go, but I’m not back home until 11 days later on Saturday night. Thanks for everyone’s comments….still haven’t decided what to do. If I was travelling alone I’d take it with me absolutely, I just don’t want to be the one person who’s stopped!! Surely a needle could be classed as a weapon?!?!?!

TheChosenTwo · 08/07/2025 22:40

in your situation I’d just jab when I got home although I don’t ever skip it just because I’m going on holiday. I don’t see the point in ‘having a week off’ but the last time we went away we went for 9 days and I jabbed the day we left and again when we got home. Just seemed like less faff all round, I mean it’s not tricky but easier still to just wait until until you’re home again.

Wishiwasatailor · 08/07/2025 22:41

I had nail scissors in my carry on wash bag and at security they took them out measured them and they were fine I'm sure a needle would be fine if they did even check if

I took mine with me and just left if in my hand luggage. Wasn’t stopped or questioned. I think this is normal so I wouldn’t worry

mondaytosunday · 08/07/2025 23:25

I tell the security I’m carrying sharps ( in my case with insulin pens as I’m a type 1 diabetic). Never had a problem.

baffledpuzzledandconfused · 08/07/2025 23:37

I’ve never been stopped for insulin and needles, or ozempic
