All inclusive holiday on MJ 🌞

Just wondering if anyone could share their experiences of going on holiday whilst taking MJ- how did you get on?

Go away on a AI holiday to Greece the end of the month for 7 days. We leave on the Sunday, planning to jab on Thursday as normal (golden dose) but won’t be taking any whilst away as I plan to start a new pen the day after I get back.

Inevitably I will be more relaxed than at home and likely to sample richer foods and cocktails etc. just want to mitigate any potential side effects. I’m finding that I’m incredibly bored with food atm and hoping this isn’t the case whilst away.

I find AI just encourage overeating and food waste. I would see people pilling their plates high and hardly touch it then go back for more. I think it’s easier if you’ve changed your thought process in terms of food. Yes you can indulge a little but find I generally eat the same as I do when I’m at home. If you’re eating and drinking cocktails, more than you normally would it’s a given you’re going to put in a few pounds. Just make sure you get your steps in and don’t worry about it until you’re home.

wotsitallfor · 05/07/2025 13:27

Just went to Greece on MJ. Just ate really small portions. Greek yoghurt for brekkie if anything other than coffee. Then a lot of meals was grilled meat or fish with salad. I didn’t have too much alcohol cos of heartburn but don’t drink much anyway, just a few cocktails or wine.

TheMeasure · 05/07/2025 13:30

Whilst I wasn’t actually AI on my recent trip, we nonetheless ate out quite a bit at paid-for restaurants (guided trip).
I adjusted the dose (as you are planning to do) so I didn’t have to take a pen with me and I found that I ate what others were having but had really small portions or DH would swap plates with me when I’d had enough and finish off so it wasn’t obvious. He’s always hungry but is a beanpole and never puts on weight (bastard!!) so that worked.
I wasn’t really interested in drinking loads of alcohol so I’d maybe have one light cocktail or perhaps a single glass of wine and then was done.
Take over-the-counter meds with you in case of diarrhoea or constipation and remember to drink plenty of water.
It’ll be fine!

Retiredearly61 · 05/07/2025 13:36

Like PP said, embrace the salads and the grilled meat or fish. Only have a small portion of whichever carb you choose. Fruit for afters. Breakfasts have lots of choice of fruit, yoghurts etc although I stuck to eggs, bacon, tomatoes, no bread or hash browns. Don’t have multiple courses. For drinks have gin or vodka with a diet mixer. I took one of the lime concentrated dilute mini squeezy things and had vodka lime and soda water.

In short you’ve got a week where someone else prepares very very healthy stuff as long as you make good choices. I put a pound on that’s all

Went to Greece in June and stayed the same weight over the week. Yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, salad at lunch and protein and veg for dinner. My appetite wasn’t suddenly greater because I was on holiday, so it was fine. Any extra calories were down to wine and having to eyeball portion amounts rather than weighing.
I walked and swam, and it was fine. Enjoy your holiday!

I did it, and put on half a kilo. Have been on 2.5 throughout and took the dose as usual.

Don't think it was the food particularly, as I took advantage of the freshly grilled fish and salad bar for most meals. This is normally what I like eating in hot weather anyway so it didn't take a great deal of effort. I had 1-2 cocktails each night though, so I think that's what did it as I'm not normally much of a drinker.

Maarva · 05/07/2025 20:27

I think eating AI is easier than restaurants as you can control your portion size much better and put small amounts on your plate. I went on a couple before MJ and I found it a really relaxing way to eat. I am going on one next week and looking forward to sticking to the fruits for breakfast and fish, salads and veg for other meals.

millenialmolly · 06/07/2025 12:47

Thanks all, some excellent advice.

Pre MJ me would have been excited to press the f*ck it button on holiday and overindulge. I keep forgetting that’s not really a thing on MJ as I’ll naturally stop when I’m full and go for the more balanced options.

Luckily we stayed in the same resort last year and the food/drink is really good quality for an AI with loads of meat/fish and lighter options.

Even if you do press the fuck it button, with suppression there's a limit to how much you'll actually be able to get down you!

It's good that you've been before. You'll know what they serve and be able to plan the sort of things you want to eat, so there won't be any risk of having grabbed something unsuitable because it was the first thing you saw.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 06/07/2025 13:56

I did a week in a smart AI in Greece last summer on MJ. It's incredibly liberating to stand in front of a buffet and make mindful, controlled choices of small but delicious portions.

Sorry, but you cannot 'sample richer foods'. I made this mistake on one night with too much lamb and suffered really badly the next day.

Mathsdebator · 06/07/2025 14:06

I'm away in an AI for 3 weeks soon.

I've previously lost a bit of weight on holidays as I swim every day (and sweat some off just wandering i expect 😅)

I've been on MJ since February and contemplated coming off it for our holidays. I've decided against that though and have just ordered a fridge case to take it with me.

unsync · 06/07/2025 14:14

I just ate normally. It's quite easy in Greece as there are a lot of salads, grilled meats and fish/seafood. I also stopped eating when I was no longer hungry.

I did have a cocktail or two each day (I don't usually drink alcohol), so I put on a couple of kgs, but it was gone within a week of getting back.

troppibambini6 · 06/07/2025 14:23

I went to Crete on AI in the Whit holidays. I had just reached target 9”10 and took my last dose the morning I went.
Like others said focus on salads and grilled meat. Loads of souvlaki everywhere. I always find salads so much nicer abroad and especially when I’ve not had to chop everything up!
I dodged desserts just had Greek yogurt and fruit if I wanted something sweet. Had a few ice lollies and a few cocktails but didn’t go mad with alcohol.
i had a big breakfast most mornings of poached eggs, a slice of whole meal toast and bacon. Also had Greek yogurt with fruit and a bit of honey.

I weighed when I got home and had put a pound on. I lost it the next day. Everyone is different but I would have been so annoyed after all my hard work to put loads on. I had small amounts of “treat” food and didn’t fell deprived at all.

Mumjaro · 06/07/2025 14:26

AI to Greece at the end of the month too for me. I’ll be taking my 5th jab over there - although am considering taking it 2 days early and then 1 day late when I get back?? To save me travelling with it. Need to research that.

Im gonna just try and eat to my satisfaction as usual, ie not overeat, just as normal. Make use of the pools and gym too!

BeMellowAquaSquid · 06/07/2025 14:35

I’m just back from AI and my eating habits didn’t change I’m on 7.5mg I didn’t have food noise so didn’t snack and didn’t over indulge as didn’t fancy eating. I drank more alcohol than usual but again didn’t fancy it. I didn’t gain or lose.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 06/07/2025 15:43

I find I eat quite healthily on AI stuff - I like the variety of salads and grilled meats anyway, cocktails will be my downfall but I'm just going to rejig jabs so I jab before I go when we go away in October and then eat but not go nuts while we're away. I had the same approach over Christmas and think I gained 1-2lb and then had a post-Christmas whoosh anyway. Plus this year I'll dare wear a swimsuit so will probably be more active as I won't be terrified of being called a beached whale in the water (thanks Twat at CenterParcs who did that).

Merlin23 · 07/07/2025 13:27

I went on a cruise
I was really worried before.
I ate when hungry stopped when full.
I came home 4lbs lighter! 🙀

ViolaPlains · 09/07/2025 09:26

I went on an AI in August and it was fine. It made me think back to how much I’d stuffed my face on previous holidays.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 09/07/2025 09:35

Good quality AI is actually the ideal on MJ, I have found! You're in control of your portion sizes and there is plenty of fresh fruit, salad, grilled fish and meat, olives, Greek yoghurt, vegetables - it's perfect! I don't really drink, don't want dessert and I think the concept of getting your money's worth in this case is paying for the luxury of having amazing food prepared for me that I can eat in my preferred portion size. No thinking, no meal planning, lots of swimming and sleep - I can't wait for this year's trip!
