Does your MJ start to wear off by end of week?

I inject on Saturdays but usually by Thursday (sometimes Wednesday), I can feel temptation nipping at my heels. I’m able to push through it but then I’m relieved when Saturday rolls round again.

Do you find the effects last all week or do you start to feel a wear off? I’m on 5mg.

It definitely can wear off in the last couple of days. From trials they established that the ideal injection frequency would be more like every 5-6 days but for simplicity it needs to be something that people can remember, so weekly it is.

SilenceInside · 25/06/2025 20:26

Yes, it’s fairly typical. After 5 days half of the medication will be gone from your system and the effects will be lessening.

I find it interesting to use a dose tracking app like Shotsy or DoseDiary to track each injection and see a graph showing an estimation of the amount of medication in your system.

Yes but it’s a good thing as weight loss is not a day by day thing. I eat more in the last couple of days than days 2+3 but since I eat barely anything on those days it has to balance out.

i just trusted the drug and ate what my body needed and lost a pound a week for 50 weeks (and hit goal).

Yes, I’m using Shotsy too and I find that’s helpful. I felt really hungry today but whereas in the past, I’d probably have given up and eaten rubbish, I was very easily able to stick to protein and veggies. I guess it’s a reminder of what life will be like off MJ!

Yes definitely although as I've been on it longer in noticing that I'm not as hungry on day 5-7 as I was at the start of mj but still definitely more hungry than the start of the week

I'm 23 pound down in 13 weeks so it's obviously working fine!

Yes, my jab is due tomorrow. Today I bought a slice of lemon drizzle cake and ate it. I feel no guilt either

Do you have a link? Or who are “they”?

My understanding is all Eli Lilly trials were done on 7 days, the half life of the medication is 5 days, but it was never trialed on 5 days. With the 5 day half life , there is still a level, albeit it less, of medication in the system until day 7 (and even longer) and that along with convenience/adherence makes the 7 day schedule the ideal frequency. I have never seen anything from Eli Lilly suggesting 5 days so would be interested to read those trials.

Yes, which is why there is so much discussion here about timing the jab for maximum and minimal suppression throughout the week depending on your lifestyle. I jab on Sunday or Monday for max suppression in the working week and then have a bit more appetite at the weekend for a glass of wine or a meal out. I also try to see those last couple of days as an opportunity for ‘refeeding’, taking on nutritious foods that I don’t have the stomach for on high suppression days.

PurpleCoo · 26/06/2025 07:26

I think I'm an odd one. I inject on Fridays, and often struggle with wanting to eat all day on Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday, but I am fine on Thursdays/Fridays before my jab, and don't have a sense of urgency for my next dose at all. Indeed it's usually when I have lowest appetite.

I do most of my exercise Fri-Mon, so I wonder if it's more hunger from that, especially as it's 2 hours of swimming, two body pump classes and often longer walks. I do let myself eat a little more on Tuesday/Weds and I'm then full for the rest of the week.

Vegemite123 · 27/06/2025 21:41

Yep! I used to take my injection on Friday, as I was worried about side effects. I now take it on Monday, then I can eat more over the weekend. I like Nutracheck for the week summary page and usually find I'm in "calorie credit" by Saturday.

Redlightbulb · 28/06/2025 00:45

Yes it does but I still notice it working in the background. I jab every Sunday & tend to eat out on Saturdays. I usually eat my meal but can feel myself getting full up whilst eating. Didn’t get that before MJ.
Suppression wanes but the feeling fuller for longer and not getting hungry after eating persists.

I jab on a Saturday and I find that Thursday is usually my ‘hungry day’. I can still push past it but I suddenly start seeing food around me (especially at work where there’s always biscuits and sweets) whereas during the rest of the week, they might as well be invisible.

Last night (Friday) was the first time since starting that I had the proper munchies - that sort of weird mental/physical pull toward munching whatever I could get my hands on. It’s not hunger but more habit. I’m on my period too so that might have explained it as well. Either way, the jab must still have been working because I didn’t head to the fridge, I was able to have a cup of tea instead. I was very thankful to jab again this morning.

I’m really glad that happened last night as it reminded me again of what’s likely waiting for me on the other side of MJ. I need to really create some good strategies to cope for when I end up coming off it.

I definitely have less suppression the couple of days before jab day, but now I'm on 7.5 it's easily manageable and I'm not raiding the fridge those days. I also have completely suppression and awful nausea for the first 36 hours, so it all balances out.

Fluck · 28/06/2025 10:32

Yes, but it’s perfect for me. I take on Tuesdays and struggle to eat much Tuesday to Friday but then come weekend I can start to have a little bit more & this accommodates meals out, a couple of drinks, etc. I obviously don’t go too mad but it works well for me!
