Summer Holiday on Mounjaro

Just wondering what everyone else is planning/ would do in my circumstances?

I'm going to Egypt for 3 weeks in the summer - the room will have a fridge.

Would you take your pen/s?

Yes I would, you can get a case for insulin pens which helps to keep them cool, contain all the peripherals like needles, and you’ll have access to a fridge so should be absolutely fine. Make sure you have the confirmation of prescription available if you need to show it at security.

I will be taking mine with the cool case to Spain for three weeks.
We are staying in a villa and I fully intend to be sensible with my eating out in the evenings.

JustGiveMeWineNow · 20/06/2025 22:57

Yes I would take. Also make sure you tell your travel insurance company. If you fall off a camel in Egypt they won’t cover you due to non disclosure of medication 🙈🤣

Yes

MagnoliaTreePetals · 21/06/2025 04:12

Yes, I would take the medication with you.
Infact, I go on holiday in 2 weeks time and am definitely taking mine.

I have purchased a Frio injections pen case. It comes with a little pouch of granules, which when wet keep the pen cool while you are traveling.

There are lots of posts in various threads from people who have been on holiday and had no problems taking their pens in hand luggage. They leave the pen in the Frio case when going through security. Take the original packaging with you, with your prescription label on, just incase they wish to check the medication is definitely prescribed to you, but this is very unlikely.

I am determined to continue as best I can while away. I might have a couple of glasses of wine each day and the occasional small 'treat'; but I have over indulged so many times in the past and come home with a mega-gain. I just want to try and avoid that. keeping on the MJ and Maintaining or a very small gain is my aim.
(I went away to France for 6 days in May and still lost half a pound, so I feel this is doable!)

Yes, I would take my pens and continue my usual dosage schedule.

If you didn’t and took a three-week break from the drug then you would need to go back down to 2.5mg on your return (unless of course that is your current dose).

Another Frio wallet user and fan here. I’ve been on two long haul holidays to Barbados since starting MJ last October and I continue to take my injections as usual when away. I’ve found my weight has stayed the same or I’ve lost a week later (so much better than pre MJ). I’ve eaten smaller portions - just the same as at home and I choose lean protein and veg/salad etc instead of carby things. I do enjoy a few drinks though!
I’m about to go on holiday again (to Italy - currently 32 degrees) and will take my pen with me. I take the pen in the Frio wallet and also take the box with the prescription (never been asked to show it). Also take needles and swabs and an insulin syringe (in case of pen malfunction). All of this goes in a see through plastic pouch in hand luggage. I just put it in the tray for airport security. No one is ever interested!!
Enjoy your holiday!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 21/06/2025 11:24

Yes of course!

Mine have accompanied me on every holiday I’ve had so far!

NorthernGirlie · 22/06/2025 13:48

Thanks everyone - I'll buy a case! Has anyone been to Egypt and it been an issue?
