I’d like to start mounjaro . I’m only slightly obese with a BMI of 31 . Where can I purchase from that accepts photos and not a video call ?
thanks

Oushk do a weight verification call, it literally takes 2 minutes. Join call, say hello, hold your ID up to screen, point camera at scales and step on, say bye. No awkward chat, very quick.

They’ve changed their verification methods due to requirements for more rigorous checks by pharmacies. It’s a good thing in my opinion

@Letshavetea1 I agree with you on the above.

Also, as someone who’s using Mounjaro I’d say the more checks the better and if someone is actively seeking out the way around a video call they obviously have something to hide.

I would choose a non video call pharmacy, why does that mean I have something to hide? What do you think I could be hiding?

I started at 20 stone and am in the 14 zone now, I have lost a steady 1-2lbs a week using 2.5mg of MJ. I eat 3 healthy and balanced meals a day, I suffer no bad side effects. The MJ has made a positive impact on several areas of my health. It’s amazing stuff.

i have nothing to hide.

Oh, wait, i am autistic and really struggle with phone calls and video calls. I much prefer images and written communication. It’s anxiety inducing waiting for a time slot for a further anxiety inducing video call, it would take my whole day as I wouldn’t be able to function at all around such a call. I would not take on the information given or process and reply very well on a video call, again, written is better.

Im hiding nothing but being overweight isn’t the only factor to consider.

Being the mother of a young man on the spectrum at the very severe end of the spectrum I’m much aware of the difficulties faced by those who are ND and the problems they face using a telephone etc as part of their everyday life.

And yes I could have said, of course that doesn’t apply to this who are neurodiverse, but I deliberately choose not to. Always. Because even if a poster does post an exception, you can bet your bottom dollar the thread will still be full of posters saying but what about me, I’m autistic, so I just let them get on with it.

Notsurename · 07/06/2025 10:11

Add to this that there are people who can’t do a video call if they only offer them 9-5 Monday to Friday as they work in an office where you can’t exactly step on scales in the office. I do the odd video call from my car but that’s out too for this!
I changed to weprescribe from Curate for this reason although mine was a 6 month review not a starting call. Weprescribe still wanted ID checks and dated photo of me on the scales.

@LavenderBlue19 thats your decision but a bmi of 30/31 can be 2+ stone overweight- there are huge health benefits to losing even a couple of stone. If you’ve been struggling for years - it’s perfectly understandable to try something that will help.

Diets like slimming world work. Few months ago my mum started in her 60s and has lost almost 3 stone. I'm about to start too.

Well they obviously don't work for some people. You can be prescribed at 30+ BMI as this is classed as obese.

Bigfatsunandclouds · 07/06/2025 11:14

To answer your question OP, med Express don't ask for video. I have moved to Oushk for long term maintenance and they do ask for a weight verification call.

Gettingbysomehow · 07/06/2025 11:18

Medexpress. They just want photos.
No way would I have made a video of my flab back in November.
Why would they need a video? Maybe in a bikini on a trampoline jumping up and down so they can see the flab flapping up and down. Lovely I'm sure some people would pay good money for that.

Histoscientist · 07/06/2025 20:16

The new regulations come into place on 1st July and that should include video calls for all pharmacies, from what I've heard.

JustPinkFinch · 07/06/2025 20:25

Ashcroft did not ask for video, just a pic taken then and there (which means it cannot be doctored). They didn't ask for ID either which I was pleased about, as I get nervous about data security.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/06/2025 10:11

I'm autistic. I wouldn't expect a dr to prescribe a serious drug without examining me somehow.

With my prescriber I didn't have to wait for an appointment - I could press the button when I wanted and it was over in 2minutes and worth it.

For my adhd meds I have to do a video call while titrating. It's so important they have the right person when prescribing drugs that are easily misused.

The other alternative if you don't want to do a video call is to use a local pharmacy and do it in person.

You are not slightly obese if you're BMI is 31. It's pretty obvious you're trying to cheat here.

SkintSingleMumm · 08/06/2025 10:38

Med express and pill sorted

mumda · 08/06/2025 11:34

Icedcaramelfrappe · 06/06/2025 17:56

MedExpress don't do video calls like the PP said dont pay full price whoever you choose to go with, get a code from a MNer on the promo section.

Good luck, I honestly can't recommend it enough it's been lifechanging for me in so many ways

Edited

Codes?

How cheap does it get?

alcoholnightmare · 08/06/2025 11:39

Medexpress requires a photo and you complete a questionnaire online - was really easy. I also had a BMI of 31.5

Eh?

SilenceInside · 08/06/2025 11:47

@mumda you can get discount codes for some of the pharmacies, MedExpress being one of them. Here's the info about their's: https://www.medexpress.co.uk/referrals

You can get £40 off the MedExpress quoted price, if you use a referral code. You can get referral codes from the Monj website, https://monj.co.uk where there's a link to a section where people will direct message you their code. Also on MN there is a specific Weight Loss Promo Codes section in the Money talk topic. You can find referral codes for other pharmacies there.

At the moment though, MedExpress seem to be having delays in fulfilling their new customer orders, the Monj site has more details about this.

31 BMI tips me from overweight to obese range so I would say it’s the very definition of ‘slightly’ obese.

spoonbillstretford · 08/06/2025 16:11

I didn't have one with Superdrug and started in March, not sure if that has changed.

Why would she cheat? BMI 30+ would qualify for a private prescription. I got one at BMI 29.2 with high blood pressure and PCOS. No cheating required.

Curate

Johaanah · 10/06/2025 09:24

itbemay1 · 08/06/2025 16:21

Curate

I've been using Curate since September, just had an email yesterday requesting a video call before they will approve me for the next pen, the email said I will need scales, wear tight fitting clothes and have a tape measure to measure my height - no idea how I'll manage that on my own, if you miss the video call they charge you £10. I can't see it going down too well, I haven't made my appointment yet as I work Mon-Fri and of course they don't offer weekend appointments. The latest appointment available is 4:50pm.

I may have to request a refund and see if I can find a different provider, as I don't really want to use a days annual leave for this.
