Ok, I had the first jab yesterday. Very nervous. What can I expect in these first few days/ weeks? Anyone on here a bit ahead of me, please?

@Kat4dee i have been prescribed mounjaro for a BMI lower than the threshold. I too have a small frame and I have this awful fat menopausal belly. I need to lose weight and BMI doesn’t feel like the full picture. My SIL and I are the same height but back when we were the same (healthy) weight, she was literally stick thin vs my curvy boobs and massive thighs, belly and butt.

I sent a pretty grim photo of me in shorts and a bra to illustrate and the response post clinical review was that MJ will help with my weigh loss journey and the clinicians were happy to prescribe.

Did my first injection at 3pm today. Can’t tell if I’m feeling anything yet. I’m hoping to lose around 1.5 stone, which would be amazing.

Thank you for your reply. I pick mine up on Saturday, so I’d love to compare notes xx

Was approved on Juniper yesterday!

Have put on 2st in about 18 months.

Easy to blame the menopause, but reality is a poor relationship with food and too many unhealthy choices.

I am not sure when I might receive my order, but a mix of nervous and excited!

@Kat4dee@Whatanidiot123

Would love to compare notes too!

Can I join the June group? I am collecting my MJ at the weekend and will be starting Monday/Tuesday. I took it last year for a few months and I'm over 2 stone down but the suppression stopped and I lost the plot so I had a few months off and I'm restarting on 2.5mg. Fingers crossed for a better ride this time. I've pretty much maintained so still over 2 stone down with 2-4 stone left.

I am due to start VERY soon too, my order has been dispatched by Juniper, just waiting for it to arrive!

Question is, early morning jabs or evening?

What have people found best?

I'm starting on Monday too. But apprehensive about the side effects etc but desperate to lose some weight.

I'm planning on injecting in the evening as I've got Tuesday off so will see how it affects me.

MindYourManors · 21/06/2025 08:22

Good morning, please may I join? I'm 5'10 and 13st 3lb but have high blood pressure and high cholesterol so need to try and get a couple of stone off. I've also struggled since surgical menopause a few years ago to get any weight off - tried low carb and more exercise with limited success and get so much 'food noise' 🙄 so have taken the plunge with Mounjaro from CheqUp. They also give a free WW subscription to track meals etc so may give that a go if I have time.
Had first injection yesterday evening into my abdomen. Was worried about the needle but hardly felt it - prob cos it's flabby! No side effects so far and really hope I don't get too many. Early days I suppose. I drink lots of water anyway but will make sure I eat small(er) and often. I don't feel massively hungry this morning which is unusual for me! DP is a bit concerned about it.. keeps asking if I'm alright 😆
Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 21/06/2025 09:57

I have just started week 3 on MJ. No real loss last week but with the heat and being due on I suspect this is down to water retention.

I did my first one in an evening and found it difficult to sleep as my stomach felt weird and heavy. I have switched to mornings and been a lot better.

I have had nonaide effects so far other than being tired. The hunger and food noise has been a lot less and eating too much has made me feel queasy this week but otherwise nothing bad to report.

I was 116.6kg when I started and am down to 112.2kg. Not a huge loss but my understanding is you don't really see a huge loss on 2.5mg as it's meant to just help your body adjust. That said I personally have noticed a change in my face already. Cheeks looking a bit slimmer for example.

Whatanidiot123 · 21/06/2025 14:03

So far at coming up to 48 hours it’s hard to say if I am feeling much. The heat may well be making me not want to eat but I’ve definitely not been very hungry. I’ve also felt exhausted but again this could be heat and hayfever related! No nausea thankfully. I do wonder how far up the dosage I’d need to go in order to really close off the food noise and stop my habitual snacking.

Luggagerackistopheavy · 21/06/2025 19:09

I collected it today. I'm starting it on Monday. The lady at the pharmacy was so lovely and wished me good luck. Much better than last year when they were a bit condescending.

nodtik · 22/06/2025 08:11

First injection last night.

Poor night’s sleep, but that could have been the heat.

But I feel fine, so that’s good.

Struggling to eat breakfast though, surely appetite suppression doesn’t kick in this quickly?

MindYourManors · 22/06/2025 08:45

I'm still feeling ok this morning (first jab Friday eve) . Not very hungry so have had water and a Fast 800 shake which should keep me feeling full for most of the morning.
Yesterday I had a mushroom omelette for lunch and roast chicken and veg dinner which left me feeling a bit over-full so definitely need to try cutting down a bit on portion sizes. Had a handful of seeds/nuts later but would normally have had too many crisps (one of my weaknesses).

No side-effects as yet but am wondering when the peak might kick in?

bluebellinthewood · 22/06/2025 22:03

I've just taken the 4th jab of 2.5mg and cannot tell any difference as yet. I mean actual loss. My appetite has really gone away. I don't think about food, so I do hope I can start to see some loss very soon.

Whatanidiot123 · 23/06/2025 02:54

I’m over 72 hours in now and feeling hungry again! Not madly so but tbh my weakness isn’t unhealthy or large meals, it’s sugar and snacking. So if I can stick to meals only I think I’ll see some loss. My snacking is also habitual/cravings driven and very little about hunger so I’m hoping that I can still break the habit.

Calorie wise I’ve worked out that I need to aim for around 1400 per day. I’ve always found that really difficult. My plan is to focus on protein as much as possible, keep meals smaller and lighter and then reduce snacking. I’ve really struggled with this in the past so we will see.

mrsmalaprop · 23/06/2025 10:25

Hi everyone.

I took the first jab on Saturday morning. I wasn’t expecting any effect, but it’s hit me quite hard! I didn’t sleep last night and I feel thoroughly nauseous this morning. I know I’m not eating enough, but I feel too sick.

What’s the solution? Force something down? On the one hand, it’s sort of reassuring that something is happening, on the other, I want to do this healthily and not lose weight just because I feel like I’m going to vom when I think about food…

JG1586 · 23/06/2025 22:18

3 weeks 6 days I've been on this. I'm finding it tough ... does anyone else feel so full and bloated so much they're literally struggling to eat a small plate of food and finish it? I'm trying my hardest to eat little and often and get the protien and water in but my tummy down my left side is really sore and bloated with the least thing I'm eating. Also the reflux?? Heartburn like I've never experienced!! Going through a big bottle of gaviscon a week aswell as taking omeprazole. I'm due my 4th 2.5mg on Thursday and am really questioning whether to ride it out and do it or call it a day.

hope1000 · 24/06/2025 10:57

I’m not far off you @JG1586 and I felt like that. My 3rd jab I decided to do 3/4 of the 2.5mg dose and I tell you what I feel like a different person. The nausea has lifted mostly. I fancy food now however only manage a small plate but that’s good as I can now eat healthy rather than not at all. I do keep fancying a bit of choc- literally had a few maltesas and felt ill so although I fancy it I can’t actually get through eating it. My tummy bloat has gone down and can now lie down on it. I might try 4th jab back on the 2.5mg or almost and see if I’m a bit better now at tolerating it.

JG1586 · 24/06/2025 13:16

That's good to hear your bloat has gone @hope1000 I've woke today and mine has too ... till I eat again 🙈 I don't think I'm actually eating enough and maybe that's where the pains coming from when I do eat. So as from today I'm trying little and often - that bloat, reflux and heartburn is no joke 😭

PourUsAGlass · 27/06/2025 07:34

Hi all, can I jump on this thread please? Had my first jab yesterday tea time. Woke up this morning a little headachey, but thats not unusual for me tbh, so not sure if it's related or not. Starting weight 13 stone 4, ideally want to get down to 11 🤞 x

MindYourManors · 27/06/2025 20:51

Had my second jab this afternoon. A very good first week for me as I've lost around 6lbs so I'm down to under 13st for the first time in years. It's been very weird having no food cravings and have definitely not wanted to eat as much as normal. Have been much hungrier today though. No major side-effects but have had the occasional headachy/icky feeling when I've left too long a gap between meals. Minty tea and water have helped a lot I think.

hope1000 · 01/07/2025 07:01

@JG1586 are you still feeling ill on it? I feel sick everyday! It’s getting really tough. I didn’t take full dose last week, and felt so much better. Went back up to almost 2.5mg and gosh the nausea hit me about 3hours after the jab. So now think I should go back to half of the dose. I can’t function or do anything feeling sick everyday.

@hope1000 so I ended up in a&e on Thursday night with the most painful stomach pains. Turns out I have gastritis, lots of omeprazole, gaviscon, painkillers and buscopan to take but doctor couldn't have been more lovely, told me to carry on with mj and to basically eat more as my stomach acid is cooking me alive! 🙈 this aside, I'm doing okay, on my 4th week and weighing on Thursday, so far, I've lost 12lb in 3 weeks. I really hope your sickly stomach goes away and you can start to enjoy your journey hun, there's nothing worse! The only obstacle for me is eating when I'm just simply not hungry but that weekend till now I've been trying my hardest to do little and often x

hope1000 · 03/07/2025 23:00

i feel worse if I eat breakfast, so have learned to wait until lunch or late brunch to snack which I can tolerate. Reminds me of morning sickness! I’m in menopause so definitely not that but had strong memories of that dreadful sickness until about 2/3pm and again late at night when tired. Ginger beer works well atm

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 04/07/2025 17:06

Took my first 5mg dose today.

So far still jo.ill effects.

I did feel fuller a lot quicker at lunch time and only managed a small roll with some shredded chicken on it.

Im definitely not seeing the dramatic weight loss SM raves about for it which given I started at a dress size 24 I am a little surprised about. However, I am learning to listen to my body and am much better at portion control since I started. I am hoping that means I will have better luck keeping the weight off.

I do need to increase my exercise now as I think that's probably where im failing. I do a very sedentary office job so am trying to go for a walk on my lunch break and then doing a big walk with the dog a couple of times a week but obviously the heat over the last couple of weeks has meant that she cant go out.

Has anyone found any good at home work outs (ideally free) that work well?
