I need to lose weight. I’m in the peri-menopausal zone, and budging the bulge is a Sisyphean task now. I don’t eat a lot of biscuits or chocolate, rarely have takeaways, almost never have ready meals, but I do love cooking, hosting, eating, and so does my husband. Food has quite a central place in my life, I’m realising. Although a lot of my favourite dishes are Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, so often based on healthy ingredients. Have any of you continued to enjoy food, cooking and hosting, albeit in smaller quantities for yourself?

Yep! Bloody love it! 😁

My tastes have changed somewhat as I do eat more Middle Eastern style food and a LOT of beans and fish and have got more creative with vegetables but I still love cooking and hosting and flavours. I just eat less than I used to.

DS is currently in Italy and I have demanded daily food pics!

Yes. I still love good food!

Yes I still love food, hosting, cooking and wine. I do get full quicker but feel like I'm enjoying smaller meals more! I'm 1 stone down after 6 weeks and really haven't felt deprived of food, still going out to nice resturants but probs only earing one meal a day on average

For me personally my enjoyment of food has been curtailed a bit 🙁 and definitely wine, but it's mainly about volume really.

Also only on some days.

I choose to inject on a Tuesday, I don't take any pleasure in food for the next couple of days after that but by the weekend I'm generally fine so can still enjoy nice meals. 3 courses are a struggle though.

I’ve definitely found it’s impacted my enjoyment of food, but don’t feel that’s a bad thing at only 6 weeks in.

I struggle with hot vegetables apart from grilled tomatoes and my body is craving salad with protein. I can’t be bothered with detailed preparation for meals as I have always cooked from scratch and dislike ready meals and currently prefer ease of nice salad prep and fairly plain protein mainly chicken and fish. I’ve completely gone off red meat at the moment.

I have eaten out several times with friends and preplan by looking at the menu ahead and deciding what is going to suit my current tastes. A 3 week holiday in Spain this Summer will definitely see me only eating light evening meals with no starter and much reduced wine.

Just at the moment I can’t be bothered to entertain either.

Thanks everyone, feeling more reassured.

Depends really on how the jab affects you, I had instant suppression and went from being a big foodie to mostly finding food repulsive. I stick to my safe foods now and that means eating out is largely unenjoyable. Once the weight is off and I come off it I'd like to think I'd go back to enjoying food again but in much smaller quantities.
