Hi, having just seen two people l know lose 5 stone and 9st (still losing) looking amazing, l think l might have a go.

l have a few questions raised from watching few people on TikTok doing what l eat in the day type videos

How did you decided who to buy from? Some people inject every few days, some once s week why the difference? Is it a big needle to inject yourself with ? (l think this is maybe what’s putting me off) how long does the first pen last for? Do you have to increase the dose every month? I was reading on here about the pen has clicks so is it you inject yourself then click your pen? Is it best to inject yourself at night? Am l right in thinking you keep the pen in the fridge?

Thanks

hey, I just used Monj.co.uk but decided to go with MedEx as they had £40 off discount with a code at the time. It’s recommended as once a week. The needle is so fine and tiny!! 1 pen is 4 weeks but some take the last bits of liquid as a “golden dose”

I injected my first in the evening in case of side effects but was fine so changed to the morning. I keep my in the fridge but after first use you can leave it in a cool place.

you can increase the dose or if you feel it’s still working for you stay on the dose you’re on xx

The medication is prescribed to be taken once a week, people taking it more often aren't using it as intended. Tiktok has all sort of shenanigans and definitely shouldn't be relied upon for medical advice.

Monj.co.uk has a list of providers and their prices, all the providers on the website are legitimate registered pharmacies. You can move around providers month to month to get the best price for the dossage you need.

Nobody should be injecting every few days. The injection is once a week. Anyone doing it every few days will be making themselves ill, or are mucking about with the dosage.
You turn the pen two clicks to prime it, then to the number 1 for the dose. This is all explained in the leaflet that accompanies the pen, and there are also helpful videos on YouTube.
You do not have to keep the pen in the fridge.
it doesn’t matter when you do the injection, it just makes sense the first time to pick a day when you will not be too busy in case of any side effects.
The pen contains four doses, there is usually enough left for a fifth dose, which some people extract with a syringe.

I would do my own thorough research rather than relying on Tik toc to be honest. There’s a world of information and mis information out there about the use of any wli.
The needle is tiny, you literally don’t feel it. You inject once a week(anyone doing more than this is not following best practice). In my experience you do not need to rush up through the doses, I’m on 2.5 for 8 weeks now and may do another 4 weeks at this strength as it’s still effective for me. I prefer to inject at night before bed as I do experience mild nausea if I do it in the morning, at lease when I inject at night I can sleep through. It works better for me.
Best of luck with it all!

@Solongtoshort to clarify about fridge storage, unused pens must be kept in the fridge before using. Once in use, the pen can be stored in the fridge or at room temp (< 30 degrees) for 30 days, once the 30 days is up then the pen should be discarded. You will be able to do the 4 doses from the pen easily within the 30 days, even if you need to delay an injection for some reason (travelling for example).

I agree with everyone else that TikTok is a source of utter nonsense and best not taken seriously. Each provider’s website will have lots of info about the medication, Asda has a good one with lots of FAQs for example.

Buy it from a registered pharmacy/provider - monj.co.uk is a good place to look

Read all the instructions in the patient leaflets and keep to the doses and dosing schedule until you understand what changes are high risk.

Keep off tik tok for any advice or ideas - generally you will get good and safe advice on here from the majority of posters (with just a few exceptions). Keep to what the majority say, then do your own sense checking, and you won't go too far wrong.

There are videos from the pharmacies on youtube showing how to inject etc which will give you an idea how the pens work. If you search Eli Lilly, who manufacture Mounjaro, and patient booklet and patient information leaflet (always make sure your are looking a UK Kwikpens as the instructions for US pens are different) you will get a lot of information in there that will answer most of your questions.

Thanks all, l have YouTubed injecting so that’s put my mind at ease on that. The TikTok thing is you know you watch one thing and then you are bombarded with it then you get lost down a rabbit hole. I will look at Monjo.co.uk .
