mounjaro is the better weight loss injection .

I am just switching the other way. Was on the highest dose of Wegovy and am leaving five weeks clear of injections before starting on lowest dose of Mounjaro. Am assuming the same the other way? Sorry, I see now you can get Wegovy on NHS

I'm on the waiting list and on mounjaro.
Posted in a couple of forums and had no real reasons regards anyone else who has already switched I'm afraid

Just wondered how you are getting on? Why did they offer you wegovy and not mounjaro? I have been paying for it and on it since October (have lost 5 stone 8lbs) It was quicker at first and has now settled to about 1/2 lb a week, sometimes I just stay the same. I have been on the 15 ml for 4 weeks. I am delighted, more confident and enjoy clothes and shoes and bags again (thank god for vinted) I got a new hair cut and feel much younger and happier. Luckily I only had side effects for a couple of days in the first week. My brother was so unwell he had to come off it after a week of being quite unwell so it is not for everyone. I am thinking of seeing my GP and asking to stay on the maintenance amount for a bit longer as I am still overweight although when it comes to BMI I might not quite qualify now. The other thing, apart from the cost, I worry about future issues that may not be obvious now but could be further down the line. I have mostly read positive stuff and a friends husband works on this in medical research and has talked to me about heart issues improving. My heart rate was often around 140 resting but is now around 70. The new one coming out next year (retatrutide) is apparently very good for NAFLD. The negative for me has been muscle loss and a bad back. I should have started exercising much earlier but that is hard to do when your back is in pain...I wish I had but I am doing better with that now. I would be interested to know how others are on it.😊

Well done losing 4 stone! That is a shame that they have not continued to keep you on the drug you know works for you. Have you stayed the same weight on wegovy or put any on? At some point I would be happy to stay the same. I have been trying to justify the spend... at first it was 120 a month and now is 180 on the higher dose through ASDA.. but I am not spending as much on food I think (at least) £20 less a week so that makes it £100 in my mind anyway. Let me know how you get on. Just a thought... do you start on a low dose of wegovy and work up like you did with the mounjaro? Maybe as you take more your body might react differently because it is used to more already.

Raquel75 · 12/07/2025 11:00

I have ti start on the lowest dose and work myself up . Even if I went back on mounjaro I would have to start at the lowest dose.
I know mounjaro is being offered to people with diabetes at the moment on the nhs . So maybe in time people with other health issues .
Also I hate to admit but I have put 4lbs on I weigh myself monthly as have issues around weighing myself .

I did the same swap as you after gp took over prescribing.
id lost 3 stone in 4 months on mounjaro and have lost another 4 in 6 months on ozempic.
to me appetite suppression is similar but I feel less sick on ozempic so I much prefer it. I am exercising 5-6 times a week riding 3 x marathons a week and starting couch to 5k which actually seems to be slowing the weight loss but definitely helping my body shape.
