Mounjaro and anxiety

So, I’ve been on MJ for 5 months and have lost 4 stone. Currently on a second 10mg pen. All good until this point with minimal side effects.

However, for the last 3-4 weeks I’ve massively struggled with increasingly crippling anxiety. It has been triggered by an event but the extent of it is completely disproportionate. I’ve had to go to the GP for propanalol. I’m wondering if it’s connected to now being on 10mg and if I should reduce. Suppression is very high but that could also be being caused by the ridiculous levels of anxiety I’m feeling.

Not to run but think there was a discussion on exactly this a few days ago with good answers if you do a search.

It does disrupt the dopamine pathway and I've noticed worse mental health when I started it. i had a sudden situation at work and parent in hospital 5 days after starting it that stressed me out and it took me months to get over it and the anxiety and stress and i wasnt sleeping for ages. It does seem worse when the dose wears off like withdrawl symptoms. I still get it now 7 months later, not wanting to be social or leave the house other than for work and food shopping, just no enthusiasm or joy and it gets worse on the higher doses when they wear off, as soon as I inject my next dose I feel calm and better again. I'm like a druggie needing a fix! Another lady at work who started on it a month ago said she felt the same, low, tired, no enthusiasm and anxiety and it was on jab day before she had taken it. She said she now understood what I had been talking about.
It also does lower blood sugar and if we aren't eating enough, anxiety and low moods are caused by low blood sugar so it could also be that. Try to eat well upto your deficit and take vitamins like D and omega 3 which help the mind. Hope you feel better soon 😊

Thanks. I’m definitely struggling more on 10mg but it could be from not eating enough.

I’ve got 2xmg pens in the fridge so think I’ll reduce the clicks and go back down to 7.5 and see if it makes a difference. I’m not far off goal weight now anyway (another stone max as that will take me back to my pre-children 20s weight).

Yeh same, 10st 8lbs bmi 26 so that's why I'm staying on it for now but I'll soon go upto 15mg as 12.5mg is wearing off then ill taper down to 10mg maybe for a while.

This is so interesting as I’ve found the opposite - I’ve been far more measured since taking the jab, and a much better mood generally. Less hair trigger, less reactionary. I’m sorry you’ve found it difficult.
