Does this sound ok as a maintenance plan? MJ transformational - I don’t want to be without it!

I’ve lost a lot of weight but more than this my eating habits, alcohol consumption, ADHD symptoms, binge shopping have been completely transformed. I am now a healthy weight but have a few pens left.

The thing is when I get about 2 weeks after last pen, my old habits return 😕 I think I was really lucky in that I never had to go higher than 5mg which I think is fairly rare.

I’m with cloud for maintenance, I definitely am not and do not look overweight in my photos.

However it’s the other benefits that I can’t do without and I just feel better when on MJ, my mood is better and I feel better about myself.

On almost every thread about weightloss people say oh just retrain your brain and, while I do make healthy choice as much as I can, after the 2 weeks I feel the insane cravings kick in. I’m a teacher and I could eat a load of junk from my store after school. When I was on weekly injections I never thought of it.

Is anyone thinking the will need a small dose of MJ for as long as they can get it? Not just for weight but for the other benefits?

I'm thinking 2.5mg every 2 weeks?

I've recently had to stop for 2 weeks due to an operation and my old eating habits seem to have returned on steroids! I've craved so much sugar, and eaten it. Not sure if it's partly due to feeling poorly. I've felt so out of control.

I was at a weight I was happy with and wasn't sure whether to stay on a maintenance dose but realise I'll have to.

I took 2.5mg on Friday but it hasn't really done anything, i took another dose last night, because I want to change injection day. Just hoping some of the suppression comes back.

I took 7.5 at the highest dose and was planning to maintain on 2.5mg but will see how I get on.

Swampthing55 · 21/05/2025 07:07

I will be on a lifetime maintenance dose, why wouldn't I?

IsItSnowing · 21/05/2025 07:44

I think it sounds like a good plan. I don't expect to ever be able to come off it entirely. Once every 2 weeks seems like a good way to keep the effects of if.

Fatmumslim01 · 21/05/2025 08:31

Im only 9 weeks in to mj but already it's been so life-changing I can see myself hopefully being on a maintenance dose for a very long time. I've "only" lost a stone so not even huge amounts of weight loss but it's all the other benefits I'm loving, my head is calmer, I feel happier, my blood sugar isn't up and down and I just feel more stable, there's less food noise and clutter in my head it's a miracle drug!

LaurieFairyCake · 21/05/2025 08:32

I will also be on maintenance for life. I think I’m also going to need to stay at my dose of 10mg but every 2 weeks once I get to goal.

Caffeineneedednow · 21/05/2025 14:00

I could have written this. I will be on MJ for life as it has cured my depression / anxiety and my ADHD symptoms are so much more in control. All I can think is wow is this how normal people feel.

I am near target but struggled with 7.5 so have settled on 5 mg and while loss has slowed down I am near a normal BMI And happy to plod the last bit.

DollyPop100 · 21/05/2025 15:04

I have lost 2.5 stone still 10 pounds to healthy BMI but feeling happy with weight/ size and don’t want to lose too much from face.
had to stop using it few weeks ago due to a side effect that due to be checked out this week.
Wanting to eat more during the day but trying to make healthy choices and ignore food noise and combat with exercise. I don’t want to be on it for life so am going to give it a go. Got my before and after photos that I look at to try and keep me motivated.will keep you posted.

If you do want to remain on it if it helps other aspects no reasons why you can’t and sure you could titrate to level that feel comfortable for you.

notenoughhere · 21/05/2025 15:22

I definitely want to stay on MJ long term, if not for life. I only take the 2.5mg dose so when it’s time for maintenance I’m going to try maybe taking it every 10 days instead of weekly

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 21/05/2025 18:13

I’m staying on! Have had a maintenance chat today and the plan is to stay on 10mg for the next couple of months to properly stabilise my weight then try to head down towards 5mg via a couple of months of 7.5.

We shall see. But I am totally open to staying on 10 if I need to.

MJMabel · 21/05/2025 18:22

I want to stay on it long term, and have moved to oushk with this in mind, as they do maintenance plans.

Fatmumslim01 · 21/05/2025 18:35

Those who have moved to maintenance....what was your BMI when you decided to switch to maintenance?

Lazygardener · 21/05/2025 18:42

I'm looking ahead to maintenance (still got a way to go), and the idea of once every two weeks is appealing, but how would that work as the pen has to be used within 30 days (or would you only use two jabs from one pen, which would be very expensive)?

Funny you should say that about your mental health and ADHD symptoms being improved, that’s been my experience too (though I am ASD). It’s like my anxiety has just melted away.

Do we have to switch to a maintenance provider before we get to under 30 BMI?

Sorry, of course you could get 3 jabs from one pen taking it fortnightly, but you would still miss one I think?

That’s why I am hoping to use every 10 days instead of fortnightly, so I can get all 4 doses

Makes sense. I have lost weight before, but it just creeps back. I know I will need MJ long term.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 21/05/2025 22:46

@Fatmumslim01 I'm starting to shift gears a little towards maintenance and my bmi is 23.2. I would like to lose a little more as I have belly fat but will see what happens in the next couple of months.

BeesUnicornPot · 22/05/2025 05:58

I’m so glad there are others in the same boat.

Glad to hear it’s not just me that has sees a positive impact on the adhd symptoms.

Also drinking… when I consume alcohol, I know I’m basically saying to myself, I will not sleep tonight but have no ability to resist. MJ helps me do that, so in my mind, for so many reasons, I do not want to ever be without it.

I’ve used a pen beyond 30 days with no problems. Im careful swabbing the end and use a needle to extract.

if you keep pen in fridge from as soon as it arrives it will last as long as the expiry date.

I’m sticking to 5mg too. It works for me. I order from med express. I don’t know yet if they will agree to sending me a pen less often to allow me to inject every 2 weeks as a maintenance dose. I never get hungry really and when I do eat, I get full quite quickly. I wonder if 2.5mg will work for me as a maintenance dose every 2 weeks until I stop.

Mines is 23. I would like to lose a little more but looking at my loose skin on my legs makes me wonder if I need to put a bit of weight on! 😂

They won’t prescribe to you at all once you get to bmi under 23.5 never mind off schedule.

Gosh - is 23.5 the cut off? Do others lie on the questionnaire to ensure they keep getting their prescription?

Presumably they buy it from somewhere that offers maintenance.
